It was taking a nap. Being motherless, it was saved by a tiger orphanage, so it was always familiar with humans. The same applies to the videoclip of the cheetahs.
I know this is associated with danger and that the animals does not live in they normal environment, but my love for cat animals hijacked my brain.
That Marcus Miller Jazz is the best signature model they ever made, it just completes the basic look & feel of the Jazz bass excellently.
Love that white a lot more then the natural finished ones you see!
And it has a John East Marcus Retro 01 pre in there with sweepable mids and added passive tone pot. Turned the bass from a scoopy slapmonster into a great universal and very growly Jazz that can also punch through guitar crowded rock mixes. Love that bass!
This is my 'allparts' bass that I got when I was 17 for 350 euro and sold for 400....
Fender Mexican or similar quality body, Allparts neck and J-Retro.
Didn't appreciate active basses back then and wasn't a super serious player yet.
Worst decision I ever made selling gear...
The guy I sold it to sold it the same week for 500+ if I remember...
Only missing a few inches of Copper to complete the shielding. I have a pair of Marcus Miller p'ups (Fender VIntage is the name IIRC), and a big bridge cover.
I spent more on the parts than on the bass itself, like last time. But definetely getting better at the finish. Well, maybe not getting better, let's say it's a bit less grossly made.
With the white Pickguard
With the Mint green and big Ashtray
Finally I'll have a fretless.
Not too fan of the neck of the Jazz anyway, too narow for me, but all in all, I spent 110€ on this bass.
I'm pretty sure I could resell it for half that value.
Because of the noise I prefer the Fender JB noiseless pus. They also have a powerful output. Maybe I kick the Abigail Ybarra handwound pus out of my JB CS and let install some of these. I don´t like the low output of the originals.
Shouldn´t the pus of your JB be noiseless too? Two pole pieces?
Thanks
Maybe my shielding isn't perfect. But no those are single coils.
It's really a budget project, spent 40€ on the bass, 50 on the pickups, 15 on the plate and 10 on the ashtray (thank you China)
So I just wanted to have "good enough" p'ups. Hand wound special thingies deserve to be on nice basses
At least now i have a fretless.
great work my friend Henry !! love it, and love the green... just now i don't have a greenish bass.....hum thinking about it
ATM i am on an project of Restauration/refurbishing/refinishing an very old Peavey Milestone Bass from 1998.
it was in a very very ugly condition (but buyed very very cheap)... hundreds of dings, dongs, scratches...rust on all frets, fretboard so thick with handgrease, dirt, dust etc. that you haven't seen the wood underneath, rust on several chromed hardware pieces...
But the sound was very good and the neck straight as my ****, so it is my new project and baby to care with
Thanks for the kind words.
I'm sure your Peavey will kick some serious ass, you are an artist and I'm just a fraud. I'm protecting myself from ridiculism by not posting close-ups of the finish
I set it up, sounds cool enough. Som issues with the set up as I never did it with a fretless and I'm puzzled with the action and Truss Rod Adjustments. But it definetely got some Mwah working.
pls my friend..dont make you smaller as you are !!! we must be proud to renew the old cheapo wracks to new life and shine ! I love your WORK ! .....and with these close-ups....... i am here with the same problems...i have no spray cabin nor professional spray gun with compressor..i always work with laquerer-Bombs too
ATM i hazzle with the weather ... its to humid and stormy to get even surfaces...... to much runs and bubbles atm in that weather...have to wait to an sunny day with no winds
most work was to resand and raising the dings and dongs with an electrical Vapor Iron and smashing away that human dirt, dust and i better dont want to know what else dirt, from the fretboard and bringing the frets to shine
Picked this up for a couple of cases of beer, has been reserved for me for a couple of months now but never got around to picking it up.
It does need some work done though:
(the forum cuts the pics off just a little short)
Matsumoku product, very little is known about it.
Came in natural or walnut, as far as I know.
