Yeah Steve was the main man when I was a young player, and I learned full Maiden albums as a way to get better. Still one of my favorite bands! I am not shy about ripping the look off! But I tried to make it different with the other colors underneath

I'm planning my über next bass. (next bass is an El Cheapo Fretless, 50€ max. I'll find one).
I'm considering a Precision Bass kit from Thomann, adding a J bass in the 24th fret position and another one in the 60's spot for the bridge.
I'm not sure of the wiring, though. Three way switch for the jazz p'ups, one volume for the P, one tone, maybe.

little de-humming strip to the bridge, stacked tone knob set. custom shop pu's, new paint with mathching headstock, fender 045 flats (!). Could be very yum!

Haven't posted this one, don't know why.
Bought it from a befriended bass player who lives here in town.

Maverick B1, made in Korea and assembled and finishing details done in England.
The company is long gone, and i don't think these basses were a huge succes.
It's built like a tank, it's 4.6kg and it has Gotoh tuners and I think a Hipshot/Gotoh bridge. 3 way EQ and Wilkinson pickups.

Looking for new strings, anyone got any tips? Took these Thomastik strings that came with it off to put on my P-bass and they snapped near the tuners :(
They need to be really bright, since the bass itself is all about the low end..

Dunlop are the brightest strings I ever used.
Tell me more about this bat bass. Controls are funny, pickups are funny... You like funny basses, don't you ? :-)

Nice bass Gnermo , Rotosounds are pretty bright , my favs on my fretted basses .

I do like funny basses! Thats why my Warwicks are Corvette's... ;)

The bat is a decal that was put on later, I removed it with toothpaste.
The controls are for treble/mid/bass, and the sideways controls are for volume. They also made guitars with this control setup, kinda metal-ish (floyd rose tremolo etc).
The pickups are Wilkinson, but I've e-mailed them 3x since I got the bass in August but they haven't sent me a reply. They look like extended range guitar humbuckers to me, but they sound really good.

Dunlop sounds like a brand worth checking out, I use Rotosounds on it right now.
The problem with Rotosounds and D'addario is that they don't stay bright for long, and they also get really dark in tone after a few months.

Jepp, right. The Rotosound strings may last a bit longer, but the D´addarios are dead after half a year.

I put some on my Epiphone Rivoli and they started to sound 'different (not 'dead') after 2 weeks...

What kind of bass can you get for 40€ ?
Well...
A defretted Harley Benton Jazz. I wanted to get my hands on a very cheap fretless (considered a time a Corvette, but too expensive...)
Dismantled it just when I brought it home.
Little disapointment with the "no finish" underneath the pickguard.

Defretting was... well... visibly a firt time for the previous owner. Will see what I can do with a bit of sanding and... wel... Boat Epoxy Varnish :-) I would not have been able to do better anyway, so...

Plastic nut is broken, will put a new one also.

Project starting, will see where it lands.

This one was for free, but I had to spend money for a new bridge, new pickup, selfmade pickguard, electronics. Parts were stolen, I can´t find original replacements anywhere. Easier to get a whole Framus Junior 4 at Ebay.
