just got this beast in... vintage WAL Pro Bass 1978

it has an enormous dynamic. Thick neck and a lot of......inspiring sounds. Especially the swich at the pick-up. breath taking. At first i thought my precisie could do the same.. until i switchen the tiny little thing.. Wow.

But also very smots and soft playing is addicting! beast for songwriting. Love the duck paddel headstock. The whole thing feels professional, like warwick and alembic, but more like the beast from the hills...... dunt how to descibe it. Will make a vid. You really can make those eighties trick sounds. tonight it's plectrum night.. Went with my wife to amsterdam this weekend so everything is fine haha.

ZOM!! what a crazy rig you have there

Ibanez 1206

Nothing too spesh compared to the Warwicks but the combination of Mahogany, ovankal and the wenge bubinga pretty much makes it a warwick in my eyes :)

Wut? Ibanez has been using Wenge since the 80's, how does this make it 'like a Warwick'?

Damn cool bass though!

Well then Warwick is like Ibanez then G :) either way, when i was researching and saw the woods, i was happy.

And im my eyes, so when considering it, i was like hell its pretty much a warwick

Anyone got a Musicman Stingray? Experiences?

I'm seriously considering one as my next bass - I want a real classic, but not a Fender. I tried out a USA Jazz Deluxe and it was... okay, but I then tried out a Stingray 5 and it blew it away. Fender had slightly nicer feel and finish, but the sound of the 'Ray was amazing. It was a single H, but I'm looking at either a HH or HS model for more versatility.

I can strongly recommend StingRay, the best sounding bass I have ever played. Although we are on Warwick forum. I do not play it any more, because it has no B string, but Sting Ray stays in my home.

Note: 4 stringers are much better than 5-ers. I have never tried bad sounding 4 string MM but I have played few not good enough 5 string-ers.

Nothing wrong, just totally different construction.
Look close to both pickups; on 4 stringer poles on A and D string are bulging..
Try few pieces, you will hear the difference.

It's my "in between" bass. If I have to do a bunch of classic rock, with new harder rock or even r&b, and the place will be small or a little in the wild side, I take the Stingray. I think mines a '96 but I'm not at home to check. 3-band pre.

Nice and gritty top end. The pre can fatten up the bottom just enough. Mids can go from scoop to harsh. Very comfy too. Love the truss rod wheel adjustment. Brilliant. My maple neck is more easily affected by the changes in weather it seems, so being able to crank the rod a bit on the fly is nice.
