My '06 Thumb LTD! The grain is not quite as striking IRL, there's a stupid instagram-filter on that pic. A truly epic bass, love the BO body shape!

Recently acquired a used 2000 model. It's in great shape :)

However the action was super high. It has a Just a Nut III upgrade, so the first step was to take about 1/8" off that total. That helped at the head end. Down by the bridge, the bridge and saddles were as low as they could go, so I had to use metal washers to space the neck and body to be able to get the action I wanted. In the end, the action is perfect and there is no noticeable difference in the sound from where I've used the washers as spacers.

That said, I am going to try to find a 1/16" veneer piece of Ovangkol to use between the neck and body instead of the spacers.

Edit: Just found 1/42" Ovangkol veneer on ebay. I will stack a few pieces to create a wood to wood connection between the body and neck once again. Alright!
 
Just Ordered a Thumb BO 5

I pulled the trigger on a Thumb BO 5 string. I ended up getting it for 1100 with case, setup, and a new set of DR High Beams. I started off with a Corvette Standard 5 string a year ago and have been having my eyes on a thumb after playing one. thumb1.JPGthumb3.JPGthumb4.JPG
 
Nice bass Sippi, one of my friend just got one and he loves it a lot and sounds some amazing, loud and huge punch... You must be very happy with yours...

Hey buddy, welcome to the forum. I love your username :)

Well any product containing beeswax and carnauba oil should be just fine. But buying the Warwick wax is the safest way, it is probably more difficult to find in some areas, but a can of wax will be good for a couple of years :)

I've used this stuff without problem for the past couple of years, it's softer than Warwick Beeswax, works great in my opinion.
 
Thanks for the replies and kind comments...it is a nice looking bass, really happy with the grain of the wood.

Tops of the saddles have lost their finish along with the two tailpiece screws...but that can be rectified easily.

The Lord Sheraton sounds like just what I had in mind. ;)
 
Good day to all! New guy here, with a very nice 2001 Thumb 5 Bolt-On Broadneck. And what a beast this is! She devours wimpy guitars for breakfast and then flosses her teeth with their puny strings... :twisted:
