Yes!! Moar pics!!

(Is funny that some people I know, Fender freaks mostly, say that Warwick´s headstock are ugly. Guess they have never seen one of those Corts... :D )
 
I really like Fender headstocks...but I also really like Warwick headstocks! I love the unique shape...especially now that Thumb GAS is bubbling once more....!

I don't necessarily dislike the Cort's headstock, though now that you mention it Nacho, it does look like an oil spill, but whoever says W's are ugly is probably stupid. Yes. There.

Well, it's not as light as it seems but it is lighter.
Neck is ultra fast and wide, and it has a centered Bart that packs a huge punch, but this bass is only worth its money if you have a good external eq. Otherwise is a 1, maybe 2 trick pony. It also has a dead spot on the 7th fret, 1st string (at least mine).

Records very well for pop music and carries lots of low end, so it's a bit more mainstream than the Thumb, but if my Fortress was a 5er, I would have not bought it. 5th string is very well balanced and very tight.

Having said all this, I really love it. It brought me wealth of satisfying moments and it plays and sounds well above its value, as with most things Cort these days.
 
a question about a NT thumb 5...

i have a chance to buy an older thumb 5
it appears to be a trans red gloss finish
beat up pretty good but the price is very low.
has some cosmetic issues like drilled out strap pin holes and relocation etc.
if it plays and sounds good i will probably buy it.
it may be a project where i might have to refinish it and fill the holes properly.
would it be easy to sand it down and wax it like a normal warwick, or just leave it alone? the pics of the putty filling job are awful.
at the price he is asking i cannot devalu it anymore than it already is.
 
if it plays good and sounds good, you should buy it and have some fun fixing it up :) sanding would be a pretty big job though
 
I had a project like this, and used chemical stripper. Sanding down was too much :-)
 
so I pulled the trigger on the thumb 5 NT
the serial number indicates that it was built in January 87
I wanted to check the truss rod nut before I bought it, so I unscrewed the cover and I was shocked; it appeared that the nut had never been turned! it moved freely in both directions. after tapping the neck and listening for noises, I handed over the cash.
I brought it home and immediately tore it down and proceeded to do extensive cleaning and polishing. treated the FB to probably its first coat of oil in 25 years. turned out beautiful. steel wooled the frets. soaked the bridge in penetrating oil. scraped the human sludge off the PU's with my finger nail-gross...
amazingly the bass is 100% original and functioning. all it needs is one barrel for the JAN, and a few allen screws for a couple of the bridge saddles.
It was almost unrecognizable when I was done. I am not going to refinish it; it looks pretty darn good.
I brought it to rehearsal last night and it was glorious thru my rig.
my friend, who is a ww fanatic too, said that it is easily the best sounding bass I have ever owned and I agree. it is a heavy beast but balances well and reeks of quality

Hello there! Seems I today joined the Thumb-Club! A 1996' NT model 5-string like new for 850.- EUR - that chance I could not miss! No scraping of human remains!
