thanks for the prompt reply. in the end all that really matters is how it sounds anyways, and this is not the place where you need to convince anyone how good a warwicks sounds.

Do you know why many basses from 2001-2003 came with those strap pins that did not have any locks? was this a period that no straplocks were installed on basses? both GC 2001's I used to own and a Corvette Proline from 2003 I own/owned have had those strap pins.

I recently bought an Infinity SN from 2002, it came with that kind of strap buttons. I thought the previous (first) owner changed the straplocks, but he told me that he bought the bass NEW with those pins.

Thanks everyone. There really is nothing that compares to a 'wick, especially a Thumb. In my current project I'm primarily a Fender 4 string player so when I pick up my Thumb 5 it really brings me to another world. It's a lot of fun.

Hi All
To become a Thumb NT owner, what should one pay for a used? I´ve posted a pic of a 6-string monster from the late 80´s. The guy is asking 2000 euro. I hope i can get some comments on what to look for at Thumbs, if any different from a "normal" bass purchase.

Looks great. You said late 80's yes? You can confirm this via the serial number? If so, that's a great find! As far as what to look for: Most importantly, I would make sure the neck is in good shape--if it looks twisted, say thanks but no thanks. Secondly, I'd make sure the frets don't have too much wear. Make sure the saddles on the bridge look like they are in good shape. And, then I'd worry about the finish and little knicks and scratches--they are much easier to fix than the first two. Also, make sure the electronics work. They can be replaced, but it could get costly. The usual stuff.
