Yes, I've noticed that myself. I believe that the cutaways are not quite as large as the NT i.e. more material on the body near the neck to strengthen the bolt-on joint. I like that they both have their own distinct shape.
 
that and cause of the 26frets that nt have, so the cutaways are much shorters at the thumb nt.
 
She plays wonderfull ,grate tone,i like that the pickups are close to the brige,you get nice sound.what can i say i love this bass.the only problem is that its a litle bit heavy.anyway i hope some day i wil get an nt,so blody expencive. i my sell my car and my 7 basses who knows...

Forgot to include the quote but this is a reply to TheKingOfPain's question about 5NT.

I have been playing a 5 NT for the last 13 years ('89 with EMGs) and could not be happier. I have to say I have never had a problem with the weight (always a comfort strap). And few months back I bought dodger's 6NT fretless and again that is '89 (you can see the pics few pages earlier posted by dodger) and I have to say that is the perfect instrument in every way. I know its a personal opinion, but hey this is the Thumb lovers thread. So I could not recommend a NT 5 or 6 highly enough. Never played a bolt on version so I cant comment on that and the question was regarding the NT anyway. I should probably post pics here but thought that since the 6er is already few posts back that it was no point.

Anyway good luck with finding your Thumb 5NT. I'm still in love with mine 13 years later.

.... after half a year of trying to buy a new bass, the postman brought me a nice box today.

What was in the box? My first Warwick, she's a '98 Thumb BO and what a beauty she is (although I badly need clean the fretboard, polish the frets and lower the action).





PS: Anyone recommend a good strap that would help with keeping this beauty from falling into the horizontal position.

As they say at McDonalds, I'm lovin' it! As for a strap, I think you'd do fine with a garment leather strap. Swede straps tend to grip your shirt and pull it down with the bass, and nylon straps tend to be slippery. Garment leather has the adjust-ability and the non-slip surface that we as bass players crave for. I'm sure you'll have fun with your new Thumb BO!

I use these straps on 4,5 and 6 string basses.
 
I just won a Thumb BO 6 string Broadneck on Ebay and I'm so happy to finally have my first Warwick!

I think I have to wait until that beast arrives with joining the Thumb Club, but here are some photos shot by the seller.

hi, im new :) That is my thumb 2001 with wenge :) Sound is awsome, playability is awsome too (i think only Tobias Growler which i had can compare) and nice look :) My favorite shape, i can only regret that colour of wood is not that same in 100 % Maybe i will coloured this axe in black.

Are you kidding?!?!?!

The beauty of Warwick basses is in the woods. Never, I mean never, colour them over. It's such a crime, and you'll get arrested for that.

By the way, welcome to the forum. Your thumb looks great.

The satin finish is still a solid finish, while the oil finish let you feel the wood. So I guess it is easy to make a difference. Do you feel it like satin or like bare wood?

Hey Florin,
Sorry for responding so late.... The bodywood is pretty dense, so it's hard to tell if it feels like a satin layer or the bare wood. Anyway, I don't think it''l be necessary to wax it too often ;)
Btw, I sold my Hartke stuff and bought a Ashdown Mag300 EvoII combo with a 15". I know it's not in the neighbourhood of a Hellborg... but still, I like it a lot :)
