I like the Ashdown, it has something nice to the sound.
For me all the amps in the world (most of them) are like those hippie colored glasses, I used to wear blue ones, or red ones. It was always sunny. The Hellborg is a high Quality military sunglasses.:-)

New fretless Thumb NT-4

Just bought a used fretless Thumb Bass NT-4, but the serial number doesn't check out. Tried to submit through the S/N check site, but there was no place to add my photos as requested.

New fretless Thumb NT-4

Just bought a used fretless Thumb Bass NT-4, but the serial number doesn't check out. Tried to submit through the S/N check site, but there was no place to add my photos as requested.

S/N is on the top of the machine head. Looks like "B 2/53 (or 2753) with 91 just below.

You scored a real nice Thumb there mate.This one's a real treasure.
She's from February(B) 1991.
The serial number tool only works for basses built after the year 2000.
The body is bubinga pomelle,the neck is 4 pieces of wenge & 3 pieces of bubinga,the pickups are actice MEC's & I think the preamp might be an active 3 band Bartolini.But dont quote me on that.The fingerboard's a little difficult for me to see clearly,so it's either ebony,with maple lines,or it's was originally fretted wenge,but now has maple or riboulan lines.Is the fingerboard a solid black looking wood?or does it have a slightly lighter colour,with visible parallel grains,that look almost splintery?
In one pic it looks alot like wenge,but in the other,ebony.

The Fretboard is 100% ebony. That's not wengé at all. Great looking bass that way. Love those older Thumbs, pure awesomeness. :sigh:
 
Yes, Greg and Morgoth, H.P. Wilfer at Warwick has verified that "the neck is Ebony with Maple Inlays for the Frett position markers". I can only tell you how lucky I feel to have come across this fine instrument only by chance at my local music store. I saw it and had a feeling that it was special. Although my experience with fretless basses is limited, this axe plays like a dream. It is in mint condition and has very good karma.

What do you consider is the monetary value of this bass in the U.S.?

Hi Del, it is pretty much the normal price for a 2nd hand thumb NT.
 
Does anyone have an idea where I can get a list of details about my 1995 Thumb NT? I'd like to know more specifics on the electronics, pickups, and woods. Also, if I wanted to have say the frets redone or any upgrades would I have to send it to Germany?

Neck-Through Design Neck 7-pieces Bubinga-Wengé.
Bubinga Body
Wengé Fretboard
Mec PU's and preamp.
I guess 2-ways electronic.

As for the frets, find a good Luthier near you (if there's one).

That, my friend, is a Warwick Thumb NT 6 string with active electronics and active bartolini pups! The thumb series is one of the most acclaimed series of the Warwick line! It has an Ovankol neck with Bubinga wings, a wenge fretboard, and bell brass frets. If you're interested in what it sounds like, there are A LOT of sound clips of this bass all over the forum :). Youtube is a good source too! It looks to me that you might have an older model (Flo? Greg?) because this bass has bart pickups (The standard now is MEC).
 
It has a Wenge neck not ovankol, and it looks to be around 95. Have a serial number for this beauty?
 
The electronics look pretty interesting,but I think they're 3 band,rather than 2 band,seeing as it has 2 stacked pots.
