Indeed :) CRAZY! Not only did I win the Fretless, but another 6k worth of gear. It was a contest open to the US & Canada back in Feb '08. It was one of those where you could enter once per day, for a 45 day period. I seem to recall I entered 43 times :lol: Missed just two days.

Of course, as with everyone else....I knew there was no way I was going to win. No one wins these kinds of things, right? ;) The fine print said that a winner would be chosen on March 30th '08. March came and went....April, May came and went...and I had totally forgot about a contest that I was never going to win anyways. Partly because my kitty soulmate of 18 years, China, passed away just days prior.

Skip forward to June 8th, when I opened my mail box and lo and behold....was an "overnight" delivered folder from Bass Player Magazine. My first thought was... why on Earth would they spend $8 to deliver a folder to me overnight? Weird. I thought to myself....did I just win a 2nd or 3rd place prize or something??

I opened the folder and saw "Congratulations, you are the Grand Prize winner of the Jack Bruce giveaway"..... :eek::eek::eek: Freaking out ensued.

The very nice lady at the magazine, said that there was a delay in the selection and I was indeed the first one picked.... out of 1 million plus entries or something crazy :eek: I firmly believe that my cat China, played a part in it, from above :)

UPS pulled up to my place about 6 days later.

New underwear purchased not long after.

Most people have died of old age before the enrollment process is complete....
 
Looks like I'm back in the thumb club, although the SC does not sound like a thumb in a lot of ways. I think the Wenge neck and hog body will get it closer than the traditional thumb SC ash body and maple neck.

This thing weighs a ton!

Since half a year I own a Warwick Thumb from 1991. It has an EMG preamp on board. Unfortunately my Bass produces a lot of noise, only when the Treble is cut, it is OK. Where can the problem be located? Is it the preamp? It's an encapsulated black box with wires for connection, so no caps or anything is reachable for exchange. Or might be the potis the problem, which produce more noise over the years? Or are the pickups degraded over the time? Thanks for replies....
 
Aaaahm... Actually my bass is not at home. But the electronics look like the first hit at google picture search "warwick thumb 1991 emg"
 
To solve the riddle of the mysterious noise, I can add, that the noise comes mainly from the bridge pickup, also in passive mode. So I guess that the preamp is not the main problem. So I guess that the root cause for that noise comes whether from the bridge PU or from the blend poti+wireing. Has no one else this problem?
 
Actually never heard of. Electronics looks o.k.. Is the wiring of the pu also correct?
