Little OT, how does my fretless Thumb nt with Bartolini instead of the original Emg?
 
Morgoth, I thought this was traded for the wenge-neck one (which sounds great).
 
You're right Markus. But I re-traded the wenge-neck one for the 2009 one. :)
 
Yeah I will do a full review soon with some sound clips and and better shots. I love how it looks with the big poles. It makes the thumb look mighty.
 
So I switched out my EMG pickups to a set of Delano JMVC 4 fe/m2 Pickups. I LOVE the look of the delano pickups and the tone is very unique. They have incredible clarity and tend to have strong Lows and Mids but the highs dont seem to be over the top. Overall I am very happy with the tone and am excited to hear them with the new Glockenklang preamp that I ordered. The tone is very clear and it doesnt really seem to have much of its own color. I think it transfers the natural sound of the bass well and they do have a lot of punch. They are also very quiet. Let me know what you think of the tone. I recorded a clip of them and did split pickups, then bridge, then neck. I also will post a clip of my EMG pups playing the same thing and balanced in the middle. Looking forward to feedback.

Great, thanks for sharing! I remember I talked with somebody that told me that Delano are the European version of Bartolini. From your description, this is the case :-)
 
Really? I have always though of bartolini as warmer sounding. This is quite different than that. It's pretty in your face and just super clear. I have never tried Bart's on a Warwick though
 
barts are often described as Harleyesque
They are warm, because the don't have hars treble at all, but they cut throgh like a knife, because of their low mid presence.
 
Sounds nice, I will have to try them some time. Are they good for slap? These have strong lows and low mids and do not have very harsh highs but have a ton of slap clarity when popping.
 
Thanks for the sound comparison. I was considering switching to EMGs, but your Delanos do sound similar to my Barts, and I prefer their sound to the EMG's you posted.

Haha, thanks, but you know... I like better just grooving, I look at this video with one eye closed, like... wtf!. Well, yes, they are barts, and it is only my bass in tubepeth, that's it!
 
You are just crazy in the best sort of way. I can't believe the tone your getting out of that. I need to get an ss1 bad :(


On another note, I got a bunch of sets of DR strings shipped to me today to do a review of their different types of bass strings. Can't wait to have my thumb fully tested! Glock is on the way a well
