I realized what is wrong, comparing da lower horn with other Thumbs. The space between the lower horn and the base of the neck (where it joins the body) is not rounded enough. So it somehow creates an angle, hence the weird looking shape. On the other hand, 1995 was the last year of handmade basses. I guess the production was not as consistent as now back then. And yeah, I'm 100% sure of what I'm saying. Sorry for my annoyance. :D

N.B : not sure if I'm clear enough, sometimes I don't have all of the English vocabulary needed to describe certain things...

Here's a vocab tip: You seem to have used "wrong" where you should have used "different". There is nothing "wrong" with the bass.
 
Of course not. I was only speaking about the lower horn, not the bass. I don't doubt the bass itself is killer. :)
 
Hi guys,

Just another piece to the setup puzzle. :) The "D" was actually out of alignment in reference to the G and A. I took the pics before the setup was complete.

I finally got the relief set last night, but I'm still not happy with the action. I have the B and G saddles all the way down, the bridge all the way down, and yet my 24th fret action is still high for my liking AND there's a buzz from around fret 18 and up. I think I may have to shim the neck. I'm going to let it settle for a few days and see if it works out.

Action notwithstanding, it's quite a beast. Makes the FNA sound tame in comparison... I may lose my country gig with this animal. ;)
 
Playing country with a Thumb? You are my hero! I know the country scene is quite traditional and if the bass player is not using a 7ender or something that looks "traditional", well, you are not "country enough". 8:

Like playing guitar in an Indie-rock band with a 7 string Ibanez JEM. :D

Hahaha! You got it Nacho. You're probably ahead of the curve in realizing I'm not exactly one to conform to what's considered "normal".

All kidding aside, I get some fairly dirty looks and sideways comments with the FNA - wait til they hear this thing. If they don;t like my Thumb, I'll show 'em the finger. :d

I got this thumb a few months ago and never really checked the serial number cause I was too busy playing the damn thing :D

Bubinga Body / Bubinga - Wengé Neck / Wengé Fretboard / MEC PU's / 3-Bands MEC Preamp / JAN1.

And I want it now, BTW.
