=The Warwick Thumb Club=

Hey fellows!

I joint the club about five months ago and now I make it official ;) This is my Thumb-NT 5-string from 1988. It´s the greatest piece of wood I´ve ever owned. I simply love the tone, the playability and especially the grain!
 
Question.

I have a WW Thumb Broadneck (so I think Humbuckers) 5-string. I am so thrilled about the sound I also want a 4-string. But the pick-up setup is totally different. Does it also sound totally different then the 5-string broadneck???

Very interesting bass. The fretboard is clearly ebony, not wengé. And the frets are big (back in 1988 Warwick was using small frets, much smaller than the newer ones), most likely they're pretty new. I'm almost sure that this bass has had its fretboard replaced.
 
I bought it second hand, so the fretboard could have been replaced, but according to Warwick (I wrote a mail to this serial nummer identification thing) the ebony fretboard is ex works.
I don´t know about the frets, they seem pretty "normal" to me, but unfortunately I don´t have a second 80´s Warwick to compare with =(
 
Don't know. It may be a visual trick since it's an ebony fretboard, but, on the pics, they look like new frets, the "big" ones. On your bass Davide, they look much smaller / thinner (beautiful bass BTW). ;)

But since it seems, as J.S.E says, that the ebony fretboard is original, then I guess there are two solutions : visual trick or da bass was re-fretted. :)

It's a beautiful bass anyway, jet black ebony.

Could we have, if you have the time, a picture closer to the frets, J.S.E?

I think that is a visual trick, my Thumb's fret are 3mm width, i think that are large enough xD

Edit. On my Streamette are 2,3 mm circa

Thanks mate. Indeed they look used. But the way they are put into the fretboard... I still think the bass has been re-fretted. Oh well, I stop being a pain in the ass (once again). Nice bass, have fun with it, you can't go wrong with a Thumb NT5 from the late 80s. :-)
 
Just traded my LX4 for a broad neck BO5 Thumb.
I was quite surprised no to see at least another one showing it's wideness in the club.
Are they that rare ?
