Ya can get the lid from the webshop or any dealer.
 
So for 2 weeks, I've been the proud owner of a Thumb, and I wonder if I may join this Club with my new princess. She lacks some of the virtues which seem to be highly esteemed here: She's brand new, has no vintage blood in her, has a simple BO neck with only 4 strings attached, lacks any frets, has a pair of Bartolinis as her pus, and consists of Ovangkol almost exclusively. Yet, she is proud to be an SE of 2010 and one of only 87 of her kind.

When I went to the store to check out a special offer on a Corvette $$ FL SE, I just could not get warm with it. The neck felt no where near comfortable, and the sound options were almost too many. But I liked fretless, which I had never tried before. So I looked through what else they had, and the Thumb caught my eye. I took her off the shelf, plugged her in, played a few notes, and a few more, and I knew I would not leave the store without her. The neck was just perfect under my fingers, and the sounds she made when I plucked her strings were just the way I like them: aggressive, yet joyful.

Hope she finds appreciation despite her humble appearance!

Clips? Oh my! It will be a while until I dare to take her out in the public. Although I hit the notes right much more often than I feared, I'd say I'll give my confidence a few months before letting anyone beside my wife hear what the princess sounds like under my hands.

(Please note: My wife was very likely the only one in the audience who thought that Yes' Benoit David sang on pitch in Vienna. Now, she thinks the princess and I sound great already.)

Hello again all... gone nuts... got a question; had the chance of a '90 NT 5 (dot neck) so moved my BO on... unlike the new NT's the '90 NT has the same preamp layout as the newer BO 5's (no mid control) but sounds very different, especially the low B... does anyone know what the difference is between the two preamps? Are they interchangeable (2 way or 3 way (as per new NT's))

Sounds like you want to swap the 2 band eq in the 90 NT for a 3 band. If this is correct, you should just need to get the proper pots with the 3 band pre. As long as the bass has 3 holes, it should be do able. Customer support section should be able to help further if you post the question there.
 
Here are some updated pics of my 91 Thumb bass. There is a weird discoloration beside the knobs. Not sure how that happened. Waxing doesn't help.
