Need advice on strings ....
Which one's are best suited for my T. BO 5 ?
I play with fingers , some slap , most hard rock from 70's

Dr High Beams
Dr Jonas Hellborg
Dr Marcus Miller
Warwick strings
Thomastik Infield
D Addario

Theres no real best string, its all personal preference.

But if you're on a tight budget i'd suggest Vinci strings

I use the black label mediums. It's what Warwick ships their basses with (AFAIK). No issues fitting into the tailpiece,...etc. etc. I may have to look into the other suggested strings. TI's especially.

DR Lowriders, no taper, 45-130.

I play the same stuff you do and I occasionally try something new and then go back to the Lowriders. I did have to file the tailstop, but I think it's worth it because i think taperwounds sound "thin".

Hello all - thought I'd share my old Thumb 4 BO. This thing was absolutely beautiful looking and sounding, but ultimately had to go due to my extreme preference to 5-stringers. I miss it...







Perhaps a 5-string Thumb NT will find its way into my life...
 
You'll love a 5 strings thumb even more. For me, that's the thumb! Because of the different pickup placement, it really growls like a mad dog!
 
I just purchased an '03 Thumb NT!!! I am sooooo excited!!! I've been wanting one for many years and the moment has finally come. No pics yet but just had to say something. Hooraaayyyy!!!! I am now an official member of the Thumb Club.

I love my Thumb Its Still the best Bass i have ever played I want to get a NT5! Ah one day!!

True. But Ovangkol is always more linear than Bubinga. In fact, mine is pretty weird. It doesn't have the regular Bubinga grain. Maybe that's some hidden Ovangkol. :the truth is elsewhere: :lol:

BIG DUH!!!! I need bifocals I didn't even notice it was Bubinga. Your right that is different - cool - Nevermind:eek::eek:

Bet you get some fat DUB sounds out of that third pickup - any clips with it soloed?
I am interested in a neck pickup myself, but scared to go through with it.
 
It's just due to different shades and grain patterns in the wood.
I've had my Thumb since November and I could swear the wood has darkend a bit.....but it still looks brill and funky.

After many confused years of thinking this information will just fall in my lap one day, I'm tired of waiting now that I have my very own Thumb, I have finally decided to ask a question: What's the reason for the upside down "Thumb Bass" logo on the truss rod cover?

from fretted to fretless

hi,
does anybody know if warwick rebuilds from fretted to lined fretless? i play mainly fretless basses and want to change my fretted thumb nt 6 string to a lined fretless...
