Hey Wookster,
Good to see you again.
The first case in this link is the one that'll fit your Thumb nicely.

Thanks Greg! that's a pretty nice case but still it's a one size fits all and for $260+ dollars I was looking for something more form fitting like Ibanez's case for it's soundgear line. It's an skb style case that's lightweight and the inside cavity is shaped like the instrument. I can't believe Warwick doesn't have something like that. I saw a picture at the Dana B. Goode/Warwick site for the accessories that hinted that they at least used to have something like that.

As far as i know they DO make an SKB style case. I ordered one a couple years ago from my local warwick dealer. Walked in and said i needed a hard shell case for my warwick thumb and he said ok. It is a nice case with the warwick name stamed into the lid. i wanna say it was about $150ish

Hi Greg, I'm respectfully going to have to disagree that the flightcases Warwick sells are nice for Thumbs. As you may recall, we chatted about this topic in this thread...

The Flightcases that Warwick sells simply do not provide proper support for Thumbs. My Thumb dented the case from the inside out during shipping...that is a little bit unacceptable and means my sweet little Thumb was flopping around like a fish out of water inside the case. Warwick really needs to look into molded fittings inside the cases, especially for their top of line basses.

Take some pics,I suspect your case is missing 1 strip of compressed rubber,as well as missing the inserts. If that's the case,it's hardly worthwhile redesigning an otherwise good case.Respectfully.

Hi Greg, thanks for the response. I don't think my case is missing anything. Strip of rubber is there, little pillows are there...is there anything else? I don't feel it's a matter of redesigning the case, it's a simple matter of Thumbs, because they are among the smallest Warwicks, need a molded insert more than other Wicks. In the topic I linked to above, I was not the only one who had the case dent out from the inside due to the Thumb smashing the bottom end during shipment. Plus as you can see from the photos, even simply picking it up the Thumb dislodges from it's supports. So just imagine what is happening to Thumbs when they are being shipped in Wick flightcases. That's gotta be some serious stress put on our little babies for it to dent the case from the inside out. I know it's a "universal case", but maybe Warwick and DBG should consider molded inserts for these very very expensive works of art...known as Thumbs :)

Not trying to be a pain in the arse, just seems like a fairly obvious problem for Thumbs. You mentioned in the topic I linked to above that you would pass this info on? Does that mean you'll let Warwick/DBG know?

Thanks for your time

Cheers

The innards of your case is very unlike the one one I had.The foam in yours is lined with a black a velvet material,it seems.Mine was lined with a 1 inch strip of compressed rubber at the butt of the bass.I no longer own it,so I cant take a pic to show ya.But if you saw my old one, which I bought at the end of 2004,you'd see how good it is & I didnt have the inserts to support the body, but it didnt move inside it's case at all.
Yours was a competition win right?
Anything you post on this forum,is noticed.

Hi Greg. Yes I won all this for free :D

So I guess I shouldn't be complaining too much  Of course whether it was free or not, Warwick/DBG should be sending a bass that is truly protected inside the case.

Here is another pic of where the bottom end of the Thumb's strap hook smashed the rubber lining, producing the inside out dent.

Maybe Warwick should look at going back to the 2004 design, as you suggested, it was stable.

Thanks again :D

I bought that same flight case.

They don't work for Streamers either.

Had to super glue pillows in to place and stuff with old t-shirts to keep my P-Nut from sliding around.

You spend thousands of dollars on the greatest basses in the world, my opinion of course, to carry them around in 10 cent flight cases.

My 98" Thumb NT came with a killer moulded plastic case.
The inside is form fitted to fit the NT and BO Thumb Basses.

Warwick, if your listening, please go back to the moulded cases.

I'll buy another bass if you do.

As Blazeman said his thumb came with the molded case I was describing. Anybody know why Warwick seems to have stopped making these? I agree, Warwick would start making those again and I would be one of the first in line to get one. Warwick marketing folks, are you out there???

I think what I would do is, buy some poly foam(the real name for styverfoam) cut it with a knife to the shape of your bass, go to a fabric store, get some fake velvet which is really cheap, then buy some Velcro and but it on the inside of your case (where you want to put your foam insert) then stick some velcro on the foam insert, and stick it on, overall it should cost from $5-10

This is a good idea.
I took my case to foam supplier to get a piece that'd fill the Rockcase & was quoted $130.

It wouldn't be hard at all for Warwick to go back to using molded cases for their top end basses, sure it might cost them a bit more, but come now...wouldn't it be worth it? Warwick doesn't cut corners any where else in their operation, that should also carry over to their cases. Even if they are made in China (as is my Sweet 25.1)... Warwick is making enough $$$, on the business end, not to be able to go back to making absolute top of line cases for their works of art. That only makes very simple sense. I would hope Hans Peter gets word of this and is aware that the cases that "try" to protect his basses...are not quite what it seems they used to be.

I hope this post of mine is only consider to be constructive criticism....as I will be a life long supporter of Warwick basses, despite the cases

Cheers

I think the saying,"you cant please everyone" rings true here.
There was an isssue with the locking loops on the Rockcase,so they were removed until a better design can be implemented. It's not like these things are being ignored. The vast majority of Rockcase owners are happy with it's design.Remember, these cases are being used by alot of players that tour for a living, without any complaints, not all of them are protecting Warwick basses either. To change it because a few think it's needed, doesnt really make good economic sense. But it's good that those that have had problems, have spoken up.

Hi Greg,

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but....It's not what I or a few people "think" is needed. It's a simple matter of the Thumb that was shipped to me by DBG in this flightcase...does not work, that's a fact my friend. The Thumb is in danger, plain & simple mate. If I could only take it to Hans Peter's office and say...."hey check this out" and he would say..."oh, that's not good at all, we need to fix that". Even if Warwick loses money on their cases...so be it. It would make people more confident overall, for all of Warwicks products. Do ya kinda catch my drift Greg?

I get your drift completely.
I also know that "your" case, isnt holding your bass firmly.
What I'm saying is,this isnt cause to change every other case that holds a Thumb bass adequetly.
Last time I saw a case with innards like yours,it held a CS Vampyre NT.A slightly larger bodied bass. That was Seth Horan's.He tours constantly btw.
When I confirmed with you that you won your bass in a contest. This wasnt some way of saying, shut up & be greatful for what you have.It was asked because your bass, went on tour with Jack Bruce.Who owns many basses & takes several on tour. It's a wild guess to assume that cases & bases have been mixed up,before it was delivered to you.
The majority of Thumb basses that I've seen in a Rockcase, were lined differently to yours.
I stand by my remark that the majority of basses, shipped in their Rockcases, are adequetly protected.

I'll put this question out to all.

Which case would you rather have for your 4,000 dollar bass.

A) Form fitted plastic moulded case.

B) Universal made to fit any Warwick bass, cheaply made by the way.

I've had real flight cases for my basses before, you could just about jump up and down on them with no fear of damage.

Not the case with the Rock Case.

I have choice (A) and love it. Definitely worth it. It doesn't move around inside at all. I bought if for my NT5 but my NT4 fits in it perfectly. I can also squeeze in my NT6 as well.
