You would have a layout like this: (from left to right, with bass in playing position)

Stacked volume/blend, with push/pull active to passive switch.

Single mid control.

Stacked bass/treble.

Am I weird to think that the Thumb NT looks much better with soapbars in the 5-string position? It could be the fact that the sound you get from them is the best sound I have ever heard... :lol: but still, I think it looks more proportional, or something.

Yeah I know what you mean. I think its a combination of the pickups and the wonderful 2 piece bridge system. I makes the body look like it has a fat a*s.

Hi guys,
I got the MECs with me now.
Currently wired in are the Bartolinis.
I got a picture of the current set up,
How do I go about switching the Pickups?
Do I just switch it directly eg. signal for signal and ground for ground?
I've attached pictures for references.

Edit: seems like my preamp doesnt have the output for the 9V to the pickups...

Current Bartolinis have only one shielded wire. (1 signal and shield as ground)

The MECs have a shielded white wire and a unshielded red one.

The Thumb NT is my favorite too! But for an alternative tone, my new old stock Dolphin Pro I is also my favorite, passing up my Streamer Stage I!

I would say the Dolphin is giving my Thumb a run for the money, but really, they are two different and complementary tones, so both are equally my favorite of all basses! :D

one of the MECs that my friend passed to me is dead!!!
anyone has a spare MEC gold that they would like to sell to me? (or a set at a reasonable price?).
 
Quick question for all you thumb nuts:

Does the thumb have push/pull volume control and if so does it take the electronics from active to passive OR active a slap contour like on the infinity models.

I'm aiming this at the more modern models (try saying that quick!), say from 1990 onwards

All Thumbs,both vinatge & new,have an active/passive bypass on the volume knob.
 
When engaged,the switch changes the eq contour to a slap setting.IE.Scoops the mids. :wink:
*edit.
On MTD basses,the 3 way toggle sitch selcts the midrange frequency with wish to cut.
 
Hi folks! I've benn away for a bit and I see some new thumb pics. What a sweet looking bunch of basses! You gotta love Thumbs! Seeing some of these basses in their casses leads me to this question....Doesn't Warwick make a case that fits these basses better? I don't like gig bags and all the cases I've ever seen are rather ill fitting. Now I swear I saw a plastic molded Warwick case that was formed inside to fit a Thumb but I have'nt found any. Maybe I was just dreaming. Anyway, with all these awesome basses it sure would be nice not to have them rattling around.
