Did you have any trouble finding a screw long enough?
Did the radius match up ok?
I was planning on putting a piece of felt between it & the bass, also printing it in black..

Well, I didn't had a screw that went far enough in the wood, but when that 0.5 cm piece broke off, I did
There was still some filt from the strap lock , left that there, the radius is pretty good! I could be a tiny bit more narrow on the outer edge, but is fine like this

Hello Florin,how are you?Currently I mounted the old original strings on my Thumb,haha!I had tried the Black Label but I didn't like.
I mounted the Black Label on my Jazz Bass '78 and the sound is excellent.I had tried other brands on my Thumb but none is like the original even if they have 27 years old!!These strings have a diameter,measured with digital caliper 47,65,82,103,while le Black L have, measured with digital caliper
45,65,85,105.Maybe in years 80 they had those measures?And then it,seems to me,that the original strings wrapping in pure nickel.Even the official website Warwick has confirmed that they are Black Label.Bah,I'm stumped.Anyway the important thing is to play. The Thumb is a great musical instrument .

Well, I'm out of the Thumb Club, for a while anyway. I sold my 1990 Thumb NT5 on Friday to a kid who will gig it more that I have been in the last year. I dropped back to other basses primarily because of weight (Corvette $$, NS Omni, Elrick eVolution) since my Thumb weighed at least 4 lbs more than any of the others. Mine was a really heavy one though tipping the scales at 13.5 lbs and I know there are lighter ones out there so I'll find one in due time. I may go with a (Gasp!) 4 string bolt-on as I have played a few over the years and they were all really nice.

I just read an old interview with Jack Bruce from 2002. Jack Bruce

I didn't know that he was responsible for the Thumb's horn being stretched, Cool stuff.

"I found Warwick almost by accident. I was in Germany making a record, and I went to a local music store, where they had a Warwick fretless. I’d never heard of it, but I bought it immediately. The maker heard that I’d bought it, and got in touch with me, and I worked with them in order to improve the instrument – mainly the balance; it was very top-heavy. We improved it by making one of the horns a bit longer, and they incorporated a couple of other suggestions."

I just picked up a 1990 fretless Jack Bruce Signature Thumb bass. It came with Duncan Active EQ pickups. Those are the ones that had the two DIP switches on the top cover.

Does anyone know if any of the JB's came from the factory with anything other than MEC pickups?

I'm considering buying a pair of the MEC actives (gold label) and installing them.

Does anyone have opinions about this?

Congrats on the '90 JB Sig!! Wow. That is a sweet Thumb. The ones with the mother of pearl signature w/peace sign and LEDS if not mistaken

Those came with MEC pups. Definitely nothing wrong with restoring her to factory defaults. If it were mine (and I wish it was) I would.

If you're in the states, contact Jon at the Nashville Warwick showroom. It'll most likely be your best price for those. And also wax and other accessories are cheapest through Nashville.

Oh...and definitely post some pics! Lots and lots of nice pics Not too many of those original JB'S come around these parts.
