=The Warwick Streamer Club=

what? as in perfectly fine?
plz show me another one like that

I was pointing out what you said, that the bridge doesn´t look right, not the opposite.

You said: that doesn't look right. I said: No, not at all. ;)

(Correct me on this, but I´m sure my answer was right. Anyway, I appologize for any mistake, english is not my mother tongue. I do my best to make myself clear writing in english.)

Salud! :)

I have a question for you, guys: what do you think about position of the bridge? Shouldn´t it be more "submerged"? I am not sure if it effects sound (I guess not) but I dont exactly like it (aesthetically speaking).

HMMMM, that's not good. Unless the action (string height) is set extremely high, that's a pretty clear indication that something is wrong. However, if the neck is straight and the action is good and the truss rod works and etc. I would take it for a reduced price.

my old 94 thumb nt 5 string came with such a high bridge. it had been kept a few years like that, by setting up the bass i've seen that the bridge was curved hard from the string tension! i had to replace it.

such as my 6 string stage 1 was slightly curved too from a higher bridge set up of the pre-owner. but could fix that one!

put them bridges down! you'll be screwed and realise how much worth those bridges are!

Herbie, it has nothing to do with the height of the bridge. The bridge stays on the screws anyway, so if it has to bent it will bend...

Yeah I agree with Flo.
The exposed (top) part of the bridge is supported by screws on the 4 corners. Nothing directly under the middle part to stop it from bending.

Unless the bridge is at it's lowest position, in which case it will be sitting on the anchor piece. Which in turns defeat the purpose of an adjustable bridge like we have on our Warwick's.

I believe that the phase "no, not at all" indicates an opposing view to a previous comment. Hence my confusion.

I would guess that the bass is fine, but you may need to replace the bridge. It might be ok when you set it up, but it might be so bent that you need to replace it.

Wow, this is tricky. But I love trying to clear up tricky English questions.

You're actually both kinda right!

If I say "Corvettes are nicer than Thumbs", and Babebambi then says "No, not at all", then she's saying that she thinks Thumbs are nicer. So she's disagreeing with me. But if CaracasBass then chips in and says "Corvettes are not nicer than Thumbs" and later someone else says "No, not at all", then they are agreeing with CaracasBass.

I guess it depends on whether the original statement was a negative (e.g. "Corvette aren't nicer" or "that doesn't look right") or not. If it was negative, then saying "No" or "Not at all" is to state agreement.

Ok, grammar lesson over! Now let's get back to discussing basses

I dont think that strings have enough tension to bend bridge that thick.... It seems pretty straight to me.

As I said before, don't worrry, the bridge looks like it should.

Is the bridge supposed to be flat? I looked at my stage 2 last night, and the bridge is curved to follow the curve of the wood. Does that mean mine has been deformed by string tension?

I'm pretty sure the bridges should be curved to match the body and neck curve, but the other pics of the bridges being "bent" are just set up that way. the bridges sit on four adjustable screws. if you have them high the bridge sits above the body, if you have them uneven it sits at an angle to the body. I cant imagine how those bridges would bend, pull one off and feel the weight of it. Pressure enough to bend that much brass would surely rip the neck off a bass.

If you look at the saddles, they are aligned, they are not following the necks radius..

The best way to see if the bridge is bent, is to turn the bridge, and check it's back with a straight ruler.
