Streamer $$

Hey everyone... I just stepped into this room. I'm planning to get a Streamer $$ (hopefully in Nirvana black). Can someone share some experience on this bass or point me to where i can read some reviews on it.
Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the forum :-)

The Streamer $$ is a very cool bass. Actually IIRC it won MIPA at Frankfurt two years ago for the best bass over 1500 EUR or something.

It is very light and comfortable.
It has an interesting character - it can be round and warm, but when you dig in it is very aggressive.
It is still rather a BIG sounding bass, so it will not cut through like a thumb or a Streamer Stage II.
I find it to be perfect for metal if you play hard with a pick. Also Flea style. Great slap bass too...
I would not use it for genres where you need good articulation like jazz fusion, etc.

But it is still a very versatyle bass, and very nice to play with :-)

I hope it helps.

Flo

Thanks Flo! I love a big sounding bass! I believe the humbuckers are able to be switched to single coils. Does this help to produce a jazz bass style pickups that cut thru for soloing or for songs that need good articulation as u mentioned?

Actually it does;). When you split the humbuckers, sounds kind of like a jazz bass so it's more articulate sound but it's not that kind of bass... It's big, punchy. Try thinking a combination of Jazz Bass, Precision Bass, Stingray Bass, Warwick Bass:D

I think the bridge pickup soloed in humbucker mode is the best option for articulation.

Let's be clear, it is a Warwick, so it's articulation is over tha average anyway :-)

I have a Rockbass Streamer Standard Freetless. All I can say is that I love it. I play in a cover band now and we play mostly clasic rock, oldies summer time music and some country. I have other basses but right now this is my go to bass.

the 89 streamer stage I, the one in the middle, now belongs to me! i'm from argentina, i can't beleave how far your bass has come!

The Warwick world is small, eh? Enjoy yout instrument, and welcome to the forum!

Liar!!! Tell us about the weight :-)

Liar? How so?

Yes, it is a heavy instrument and I am no Lou Ferigno. However, it is very well balanced and this only becomes a problem after 2-3 hours of continually wearing the bass.

The tone and playability make up for this drawback.

Yes, I know! But when I got my bass I was like - dam' that's a heavy beast!

Seriously, Florin, it doesn't seem to be an issue for me. I'm loathe to say this, as it's the honeymoon period, but so far this is the best bass I have ever owned.

Absolutely gorgeous!

What's it sound like compared to a stock SS1?

I can't really say. I have never played a stock SS1. I have only heard Lex's Caspers(SS1 in Afzelia) and his 6 string, which is a 6 and not stock(ebony board and wenge stringers in the neck).

To me it sounds great. I haven't really messed much with the EQ. Mainly play flat or slight boost/cut with blend panned slightly to the neck pickup. The tone is very clear, rich and deep. There is a bell-like undertone holding it all down. Lots of sustain. It does growl, but not massively so. I can also get a bit of sizzle/grind but not as much as a jazz bass. Across the strings it is very even. Some basses I have played/owned, the G string makes me wince when I play it. This doesn't happen with this bass. The slap tone is fantastic. Fairly modern, but not too aggressive. Fits well in the mix, not too overpowering, like some slap tones. Overall a very useable bass.

My hundredth post! Beers are on me!
