=The Warwick Streamer Club=

Hi everyone,

Well I'm new on these forums, and even though I could already read a lot of good information here, I was having some questions on a specific streamer model:

I'm planning to buy a new 5s Streamer Jazzman and realized the price in local shops here was significantly higher than what I could see on thomann website: in particular this model is roughly 25% less expensive from what I could get here.
The only apparent difference being the chrome hardware on thomann instead of the typical gold one (which I really don't mind since I actually like the overall fresh look it gives). The thing is it's 600 less Euros than the antique oil version with gold hw but also cheaper than its 4s natural "equivalent" on the same website, which is why some I was starting to have some interrogations about this model.

Does the 2009 5s Streamer Jazzman model have some specific modifications that could explain the price difference? (since it's explicitly tagged "2009" in the model name), like the MM pickup position closer to the bridge as other models, or am I missing something else? It looks like a good price for new and I could effectively use the saved money on other things. The thing is I'm not used buying such instruments without actually seeing them, and would like to be sure of what it actually is.

I already sent them a message to have some details, but I thought maybe some people here would know that kind of details better if any ;)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Not sure which two prices/models you are comparing BUT what I would say is that the link to the Thomann site goes to a Jazzman bass that is described as a 'NT' bass but I thought NT was neck-thru and that bass on Thomann clearly is a Bolt-On bass! So if you were making a comparison with another bass that WAS a NT bass then the prices would be skewed!

Thank you for your answer,
in fact I'm not sure they are very consistent through their whole website but in this particular case these letters only stands for the finishes: NT=Natural oil, ATO=Antique Tobacco Oil, NBOF=Nirvana Black Oil Finish, as can be seen , where all of them are built with bolt-on necks.

May the reason just be these are on sale because they only want to keep up with present year models w their full margin?

Welcome to the forum!

A 2009 model is the same as a new model, so I guess you can buy the one that has the better price:-)

I have already posted pics on the introduce yourself forum, but I think I will upload new ones soon because my SSII was still wearing her rusted hardware on these pictures, she has since been loaded wih some new gold hardware and looks way better than she used to.

oops,welcome aboard too.

hi guys, my MEC preamp sounds like it conked out.
and the MEC preamp is pretty expensive to buy. (289Euros or 515 Singapore Dollars)
I was wondering what EMGs went into the SSIs that were made in the past?
I would really like to switch them in. thanks for information in advance!

Hey all. I picked up a Streamer Standard for my collection. I had one a long time ago and decided to buy another one and got it for a good price. I want to preserve the warm sound from the passive p/u. I have been using rotosounds on all my basses but they have a pretty aggressive tone. I have one of my basses strung with tapewounds so I don't want to go that route. Any suggestions? Thanks !

Pulling the volume pot bypasses the onboard eq,so it's not really fully passive. If the bass has active pickups, the battery is still needed for them.
If you unplug the bass when you're not playing it,your battery will last for years. The MEC system runs on very little,2.3mA iirc.

Hello Greg,

I had a problem with the battery once at the reaharsal, it just died on me, the sound was interrupted and thin. I swiched on passive mode and the sound was OK. As far as I know my streamer has active soapbar...maybe the week battery was enough only for the pups?
