=The Warwick Streamer Club=

I have a question about Neck Through Streamers. Are they known for having twisted necks? I have an opportunity of getting a decent deal on one, but the seller told me upfront that it has a very slight twist to the treble side that is noticable when the bass is unstrung. He said that the string tension all but removes the twist when it is strung. He had it checked out by a reputable luthier, and was told it is nothing to Really worry about. He uses 125 - 45 gauge strings.

Has anyone else heard of a neck-through Warwick having Twisted neck problems? Should I be concerned about this? Is it likely to get worse?

I have 4 NT Streamers and none of them suffer from twisted necks.

Just a thought but after reading another thread on here it promted a question:

I know removing the jack from the streamer cuts the battery therefore extending its life but does pulling on the volume control to make it passive mode have the same effect or does it continue to use power even in passive mode ??

I've owned a 'lot' of NT Streamers (not saying how many as Greg will be forced to make a comment LOL) and not one of them has had a twisted neck!

Will it get worse? If it is twisted to the point where it affects playability NOW, then just walk away unless it is very cheap and/or you know for sure it can be cured... in fact just walk away there are far too many good Streamers out there with no issues! Just my opinion.

Pulling the volume pot bypasses the onboard eq,so it's not really fully passive. If the bass has active pickups, the battery is still needed for them.
If you unplug the bass when you're not playing it,your battery will last for years. The MEC system runs on very little,2.3mA iirc.

Simple answer NO. The circuit is still completed by the jack being in and there is some current draw. I did this and left it with the lead in for a few days and upon my return....Dead battery. Hate dead batteries.

As a sideline does anyone know where i can get rechargeable 9V's in Australia? Having 4 active basses and some pedals where i use batteris as backups to a powersupply means i get through a few of them and I hate to do it on a purely environmental basis.

Augie, using recheargeables for your bassis a bad idea...Their problem is that they die suddenly, and it can happen any time...

hey augie ...i bought DSE rechargable NiMH 9v batteries from Dick Smith or tandy here in Oz. Also got a DSE charger too which takes about 6hours to charge 2 batteries at a time and keeps them floating if charged..I have used these batteries for a couple of years now and never had a problem..if i have a gig coming up i just put them on charge the night or day before and they are fine although i do take a spare(fully charged) to gigs just in case(like you would/should with any battery). I understand where Flo is coming from and indeed they probably do just die, although i still haven't run one of them flat, but if you are properly prepared(charging etc.) you should minimise this problem to a very small chance(it would have to be a faulty battery which could happen to any battery).
With my pedals i never use batteries as i find daisy chaining power supply a lot easier to use.
Hope this helps mate!

Cheers guys,
I know what you mena Flo, I wouldn't use anything but fresh battery for a gig but I'd like a more environmentally friendly option for use at home.

An Dazzla, after an unfortunate snagging-my-powersupply-cable-on-a-mike-stand incident i always have batteries in my pedals. even if they are half-knakered it gives you enough to at least keep a decent line signal with the effects off in case of emergency. I'd reccomend it.

Today, to both our surprise, my beloved Infinette got a little sister...
Three weex ago I made an (imho) ridiculously low bid on a Streamer LX that was offered on da Dutch equivalent of da E-bay (called Marktplaats)...
In fact I felt a bit 'ashamed' about my bid and I was even sort of glad that my last name or e-mail adress wasn't visable for other visitorz/bidderz...
To mysurprise one week ago I saw that was still in da lead but at da same I realised that there would be probably other guyz that would outbid me before da 'final' day was there... Now you can probably guess it already, but to my 'utter' surprise last nite I got a phone call from da owner who told me that I turned out to be da highest bidder and that she'd (it was a woman) accepted my offer...

This morning I went to pick da bass up and at da woman's house I heard da whole story...da bass had belonged to her ex husband, who went away with another wife a few monthz ago ...he'd left her da house and da furniture, but also alot of debtz...She'd already sold a lot of other stuff that'd belonged to her ex...because she'd earned much more munney with that other stuff than she'd expected, ánd to get finally rid of da last thingz that remembered her of that asshole, she'd decided to accept my (ridiculously low) offer...

So now I'm da very (happy'n) proud owner of a Streamer LX '00...dunno bout da woodz and da finish...but these are her picz ... I took em on da way home...

Ow..and I hope I'm welcome to da club of course 8:

Nice score, I really like that purple colour! ;)

The wood is maple and the finish does not require any waxing or oiling just a wipe down with a soft cloth.

The preamp will likely be MEC BEC circuit with vol/pan/bass/treble

Let me know when you see the next bargain and you've not got the cash.

Killer bass, Rob! I just picked up an LX as well; and if you're anything like me, you're gonna love it!

Thanx for da kind wordz guyz...
and I sure do think we have at least have one thing in common Jeff, cause I practised on her last nite for more than 4 hourz...

Hi everyone,

Well I'm new on these forums, and even though I could already read a lot of good information here, I was having some questions on a specific streamer model:

I'm planning to buy a new 5s Streamer Jazzman and realized the price in local shops here was significantly higher than what I could see on thomann website: in particular this model is roughly 25% less expensive from what I could get here.
The only apparent difference being the chrome hardware on thomann instead of the typical gold one (which I really don't mind since I actually like the overall fresh look it gives). The thing is it's 600 less Euros than the antique oil version with gold hw but also cheaper than its 4s natural "equivalent" on the same website, which is why some I was starting to have some interrogations about this model.

Does the 2009 5s Streamer Jazzman model have some specific modifications that could explain the price difference? (since it's explicitly tagged "2009" in the model name), like the MM pickup position closer to the bridge as other models, or am I missing something else? It looks like a good price for new and I could effectively use the saved money on other things. The thing is I'm not used buying such instruments without actually seeing them, and would like to be sure of what it actually is.

I already sent them a message to have some details, but I thought maybe some people here would know that kind of details better if any ;)

Thanks in advance for your help!
