=The Warwick Streamer Club=

Just for the record, can you describe all the differences between your Streamer & your Spector Shay?

It's pretty much electronics and Bolt-on vs Neck-through for the differences, they're both all maple.

The MECs are very even sounding and the frets on the Warwick don't clank as much as the Spector does.

The Spector has a very aggressive (For a neck-through) sound with a butt-load of sustain, lots of Low-end to dial in (Maple lacks a tad) and the EMGs are just the most comfortable thumb-rests I've ever used.

The 'Wick is very Musical, has much worse action (Bolt-on vs Neckthrough again) The EQ is at different frequencies which are extremely audible when compared A/B.

I'd take the Spector for playability anyday, since a Warwick 5er with a 35" scale would have way too much tension, a huge neck and don't gimme that "Oh the new flat necks are so much smaller" BS because I played a new Flat-neck 5er from 'Wick and it was still big.

In a Musical sense, I'd probably pick my Warwick if it had EMGs. I dig the MEC pre-amp for 2-bands, the Aguilar is super transparent but the MEC digs out the right frequencies to cut-through while keeping the low-end in check.

My Spector has more bottom-end but is much easier buried in the mix if I don't dial it in right where as my Warwick will be audible no matter how I EQ it. I can get a good sound out of the Warwick no matter what setting, but I can dial in some pretty nasty harsh sounds with the Spector.

End notes; The Spector suits my style of music better, but I'll play my Warwick for everything else. (Punk, rock, funk, etc..) There's nothing like slap and pop on a center panned P&J! :)

Hi, I will be joining the Streamer club soon as I am awaiting my SSII 5-string which I ordered a couple of weeks ago to replace my water damaged Thumb - maybe one of the nice people from Warwick can tell me how the order is coming along ;-)

Anyway, I have a fun question to pose, having seen all the nice streamers posted here : What is the collective noun for a bunch of Streamers?
Deluge of Streamers?
Rumble of Streamers?

Whadya reckon?

or go with the SS2 Charmy.
I'm 99% certain you'd love it's tone.

Weeeeell...it starts at a whoooping 5100€/7400$, so the SSII is out of the question. The $$ is more available at 2200€/3200$. Retail price of course, so it`ll probably become lower.

Nw, how about that Rockbass $$....:|

I think I read about your poor unfortunate Thumb on talkbass.
Was the bass in a car or a basement during a flood?
Anyway,I think it's a "murder of Streamers".;)

Its finally here!
The flamed maple is AWESOME.
Streamer Stage One made in February 2005.
I swear I love broad necks.
I've decided to call her syrup.
Due to her all maple goodness :P
Without further ado.

Here is my Streamer Stage I, 1991 :) Kind of bass that you do not want to let go

I have that basses sister only with black hardware. Yours looks in much better condition.

Very nice!!! I was going to sell/trade mine for a 5'er but I just cannot do it. I love it too much.

Here is mine.

I'm digging more and more black hardware on those babies

Hi, guys. Looking into a Streamer, and wonder if any of you have a first-hand experience with the $$-model, and could tell me a little about it? Would it go with metal, or as an allround-bass?

I own one, it is really a great bass.

I use it mostly for funk and soul, and it gets really cool. With the neck pickup you can obtain a splendid jazz-like for soul. With the bridge pickup and boosting the mids and highs you get tha dirty funky Warwick.

Very happy with it :-)

As for metal, I think maybe a bubinga model would fit more, maybe a Vette $$?

Cheers

This is my friend's bass.
He said it is an early SSII, production year is 93 or 94.
Is this afzelia? Looks like maple. Is this a streamer LX?

it's not SS2, this bass is bolt-on, and SS2 is neck-thru.

I think it's a LX... but I'm not totally sure if the body wood is maple - it's also looks a bit like cherry... neck wood is not wenge nor ovangkol as well... do you have any photos of the headstock, or serial number?

this is a pre streamer lx also known as standart streamer with curved body and 2piece bridge at around 94'. neck is made out of maple and the body was made of cherry. they were no broadnecks avaible that time so they only came with jj in 5string and of course pj in 4strings!

oh, do you mean Streamer Bolt-On, Herbie? I had no clue these were made as 5-strings...

Well, I don`t mind my next bass being dirty, `cause the Vampyre has that counterpart covered. And I never downtune more than a whole step, anyways. If the Streamer $$ Swamp Ash with active electronics can be a versatile monster which I can bring to a funk/rock gig, and then whip up little cripsy treble if the Vamp should break a string, or to go with that Motorhead-overdriven sound, the Streamer $$ Swamp Ash it could be. I don`t know if I`ll afford the bubinga wood. I guess it will add some hundred Euros.

It's official!!!! - I'm now a proper member of this happy gang as my 5 string SSII arrived on Friday! It's already had its first gig and I have to say that I am a very happy bunny. I've been taken by surprise as to just how different it is to my sadly departed Thumb NT - far more subtle, rounded and more 'underneath' the band rather than the sit-up-and-bark' of the thumb. Will get round to posting photos in due course...oh and I can update my signature too at some point, I suppose!
