Recently purchased this beauty, a bit neglected when I purchased it but after a few hours graft it looks and plays just sublime. Feb 1991 Streamer stage 1, neck maple & wenge, fingerboard wenge, active MEC pups and pre amp. Incidentally why is it some have active pre amp amd passive pups?

Hello, I'm considering buying an early Streamer from the internet around '85 '86, cherrywood body and wengé/cherry neck EMG pickups (I'd like to get the growl of my '87 JD Thumb but with a more stable neck...) I have two questions: 1) dou you think that I will be able to get substantially the same growl of my Thumb?? 2) Is there any weakness about the neck (truss rod, fretboard) or electronics that I should be aware of?

Thank you so much!

Different growl in a Streamer. More midrange-y, throaty so to speak. Also capable of ultrasmooth Jamiroquai like buttery sweetness. A Thumb sounds more raw. I totally prefer the Streamer, the Thumb is a bit of a one trick pony.

I didn‘t know that they still in 1986 produced paddle heads:

Love it ! Someone has to drive to Munich 🏎️
Notice, the bass has already the separate battery box and the new preamp, but the electronics compartment has the chiseled pocket for the first preamp. A real transition model 👍

Nice!!!! What are the cabs? 1x12 on top of a 1x10? Beautiful SS2!
The angle might be a bit misleading. Both cabs are MESA Powerhouse 112 models thus 12", which have a variable crossover network for the high frequency unit. I can set the frequency to 3k, 4k or 5k.

Yeah, must have just been the camera angle. Sweet! I like the sound of 12" cabs.
