Show Us Your Non- Warwick Bass Then!

.... and here's my current fretless setup, a Harley Benton B-550FL. I bought this two years ago as my first fretless and absolutely love the whole 'no frets' thing. Can hardly wait for my Streamer fretless to arrive in twelve weeks. Anyway, as with the HB in the post above this, the build quality and general fit and finish is top notch. Balance is spot-on and the neck is sublime. I find the pickups too harsh though and will eventually replace them with something else.

Like no frets, no markings- Interesting to see the Kustom cab, my first guitar amp was a Kustom combo-

Love the brick wall in your space @esseff Basses too!

How's does it affect the sound? Seems like with that much texture on a wall...would make for a nice slight dampening effect.

It isn't a brickwall. I don't know the English word, in German we call it a 'Leinwand'. It is a background I used for photography and it is pretty much hanging there constantly now.

That's great- Yamaha made some fine instruments of all types- I remember back in 1987 that they sent me a really cool color catalog by request (for free, no less) , and though I was interested in guitars back then, that I was particularly impressed by their basses.

To this day I remember looking at the spread on pages 22-23 and the final picture on the back cover and thinking- "I can't even imagine being able to play bass."

Thank you for triggering wonderful memories and the cool sense of irony attending them!

Thanks guys, it really caught my eye. Plays very well, super light, I love the white binding on it. I think it’s a unique look for a Jazz. It’s weird having a passive bass lol but it is super punchy!

This one might be a bit controversial since it’s essentially a thumb copy. I’ve been a Warwick guy forever now but I’ve always had my eye on a fodera. I’ve just never thought they were aggressive enough in tone. Well I went and saw Ryan Martinie play with his band Soften The Glare in a small bar and stood 5 ft from his amp and fell in love with the tone. I plan on recording some sound samples of both with the same strings and setup to really get a comparison.

That's sweet. Digging the yinyang motif.

Why would you fly a P-51D when what you’re actually looking for is a FW-190D. 😉

I may be too “corporate” or fan boy here, but, TBH, Foderas have never ring any bell for me.

Anyway, nice pair.

I like it- reminds me of 1950’s art- the color pattern-

Nice!

I would love to see/hear a direct comparison! To me, from the clips I have seen or Ryan using the Fodera live, it has always seemed to be missing some of his characteristics from the earlier works, but that might just be that his preferences have changed over the years.
