=The Warwick Thumb Club=

body needs waxing too (NHS)
Use really small amounts of wax, do not let it build up. I use the fingers to apply it, and rub with the grain until I feel it warming a little bit. Let it try overnight and buff it with a soft cloth.

Cheers,
Flo

Thanks Flo.

How often do you use the wax on your bass?
Out of interest, what age is your Warwick?

G.

I use wax one per month or so, but I use it whenever I feel like it helps, like after a gig in the rain, or at the sea side, or when I sweat like a pig... you get the idea :-)
None of the basses I am currently playing require wxing, since they have a different finish on them...

cheers,
Flaw

I've purchased an 07 Thumb 5 string and was completely blown away by the looks, playability, and wonderful sound of this bass! I wanted to crow about it so found this website. I've got an opportunity to buy a 98 thumb NT 6 and I'm wondering if $3100 US is a good price. I've never played more in my life, and believe that it's this guitar's elegance and other features I mentioned responsible for this. Thanks for the opportunity for this - any input on the 98 much appreciated!

I don't know about US prices, but that seems like a lot, for that model. Though being as good as they are, it'll probably be worth the cash.

I agree with you, the Thumbs just make want to pick them up, all the time. My other basses are getting jealous.

I made an error, it's actually an 88 - think that would make any diff on the price?

Not substantially, I think. Maybe 2.8k. As I said before, it's not EXTREMELY off, so if you have some luv and it is mint, just go for it. It's a total kick-ass instrument. Just know reselling price might be somewhat lower (if you ever fall out of love :-)).

Freshly arrived today: a 1990 Thumb 4 in rather great condition (for an instrument that actualy got used):

It will take a while to find a nice setup for me, but the instrument seems great.
So far the only thing i need to figure out is why the E string doesn't have the same "thump" as the others - wonder if it's the EMG PU being slightly too short or just a bad string in the Elite Stadium set i put on it.

Perfect bass? Probably.....

I got my first real bass when I married and received it as a wedding gift. It is a 2006 Thumb made in Germany. Obviously it's the Audi of basses and once I played it for the first time I instantly realized that the German engineering coupled with the primitive but awesome invention of the great Leo Fender had been perfected. The playability and the incredible array of tones are unmatched in my mind and I worship this instrument. It only comes out to prove my opinions to others and then they soon agree. I would sell most anything I own before giving up my German Warwick!

By using the Ai (auto-intelligent) option on my camera, I've discovered that the "macro" pics looked even better. So, well, I can't help but share them with you. Sorry. :D

(just to let you know, the best pics are on page 49, last message aha). :D

Here's the 88 6 that I drove 11 hours there and back for - it's taking a lot of time for me to realize the potential of this monster. I'm working with metal and jazz - played with the jazz guy Sat. and it's amazing - can't wait to hear it through the SVT 4 X 10 with the metal guys in a week or so!DSCN0594.jpgDSCN0595.jpgDSCN0596.jpgDSCN0597.jpgDSCN0598.jpgDSCN0599.jpg
