Hi Jimmy, that is hard to tell for me because I never played it with the original tuners.
The bass has now Gotoh Res-o-lite tuners.
But the guy I bought the bass from said it was a big difference.
I got the original tuners in a plastic bag and they are quite heavy.....
 
Thanks Erik! Can you advise me the exact model of these res-o-lite you have on the thumb 6? Me wanna give them a try, apparently they weigh lighter than the ultralites..
 
I just checked, it says Res-0-lite 350 on the back.
They are sort of titanium color, maybe black chrome.

Still deciding if these replacement tuners are worth buying, since florin mentioned in a thread that the later warwicks (2007~?) are already equipped with lighter OEM warwick tuners which is about 57g each. hmmm... will that 17g x 6 tuners really made a big difference in the balance? My thumb 6 is a 08 model. Decisions, decisions...

I just put the original tuners on the scale, and there total weight is 339 grammes. ('05 model)
 
Thanks there! Warwick tuners: 6 x 56.5g = 339g, Hipshot Ultralites: 6 x 44g = 264g, Gotoh Res-o-lite: 6 x 40g = 240g.

Hi folks, my name is Darren and I just bought a second hand Thumb Bolt-On 6 string bass yesterday.

The serial number on the back of the headstock is E-135790 07.

I'm curious about the woods used in this bass. Can anyone help, or point me in the right direction? Your help is much appreciated!

Thanks a lot for that link, I just realised that what first looked like an E is actually an F!

My bass has an ovangkol body and neck, with black hardware and a natural oil finish.

I'll see if I can post some pics up tonight.

As you can see, there's a bit of belt buckle rash on the back, but as it's a natural finish it's nothing a damp rag and a soldering iron can't cure.

I'll be cleaning the wood up with mineral turps and then run some tru-oil over it on the weekend, followed up with a coat of beeswax. Can't wait!
 
Hey Jeroen, Great to meet you in Markneukirchen. Nice bass there, wish I could of heard you playing her, maybe next time :)
 
I've seen it in person at The party, what an animal! and he is not afraid to use it :)
