New addition to my 90s Wicks : a sexy 5 strings LX in honey polish.
I’m halfway in the refreshing work, waiting to fulfill the integral hardware replacement from the oxydyzed gold parts to a full chrome setup. Tuners are Graphtec’s Ratio (love them) and I put on a JAN3. I’m waiting for the bridge, tailpiece and knobs and she’ll be perfect.
What a growly mean machine ! And this wenge stick is to die for, straight as an arrow after 26 playing years, just like the other four.

How are you liking the EMG's in the Fortress?

Well… I don’t, not that ones.
The passive GZR-PJ are too middy sounding for the Fortress‘s pickups placement (way closer to the bridge than your average P-Bass).
I quickly switched to a PJ-X kit. Much better sound, full, deep and bright, perfectly matched with the BTC Control.

There's just something about Wicks from the 90s. The ingredients just seem to work. I can hands-down say that my 97 LX is the best sounding bass I've owned for both live work and recording. Never lets me down.

Used my trusty '97 Streamer LX for some live recordings at a recent practice session for our new post-punk synthwave band 'Preventer'. It's all original material we write and play:

Sound battle between my 97 Streamer LX5 and my early 95 Thumb BO (walnut/wenge).
Same strings (ProSteels), bypassed eq, finger play than slap, Streamer first :

They both sound great. Don't know which is which though. Some kind of time stamp would be helpful.

Superb Streamers !

Just recorded my LX5, eq bypassed with fresh Pro Steels

I think this bass naturally gets the growly and percussive sound Dirk Lance had on Incubus second album.

Safe and sound after some transport stress... Welcome home SS2. This bass has been around on the forum. Germany, Romania, Netherlands, Spain, Germany and now back in the Netherlands again..
