=The Warwick Streamer Club=

Speaking of Fast Fret, I've noticed when I use it on my '99 Streamer 5, it makes the neck super sleek and even gives it a wet appearance. It feels great but is the product bad for ovangkol or wenge necks? Just want to make sure I'm not destroying my bass with the stuff.

Guess I may join your club now, right? :)

Yep, body and front of the headstock have a clear coat done by some previous owner.
But not the back of the neck, so you can feel the wood... :)
I actually like it, it gives a sense of security that you wont damage the bass that quickly. And it looks great! :)

The reason I like Streamers is their more traditional look and tone that fits perfectly in funk, R&B, and acid jazz situations. There's just something about the look of a Streamer 4 with P and J pups and contoured body that gives me the warm fuzzies all over!

Then there's the whole early Stuart Zender factor. He is my absolute favorite for sound and style, and he did the first two Jamiroquai albums with a Streamer SSI...

The only turn-off for me is that the Streamer is a copy of the Spector bass, but with Warwick's innovations and craftsmanship, the Streamer is an improvement over a Spector any day IMO!
I have 3 Warwicks. The day I went to music shop they had set up a new range of Basses. Being drawn to quality basses with beautiful woods and playability to match well they were warwicks. It wasn't until a decade later before I would get a German Corvette $$. Wouldn't change a thing except more $$ for the gear I really want. Though Ive been lucky to have what I have. A seed was sown the day I first saw Warwicks.

Hi I’ve recently bought a streamer bolt on 5 string from 1995 and am considering swapping out the electronics, I believe it currently has mec 2 band and active mec pickups.. has anyone on here got the same bass or swapped theirs out?? When the bass is plugged in direct to record it doesn't sound too good… apologies if this is posted in the wrong thread. Cheers

I wasn’t happy with mine too and sold it. The sound was sterile, the B string not punchy. Imo the reason is the neck, not the electronics.

Hi thanks for your reply, that’s interesting to hear! The actual bass is gorgeous and I’m not sure if I’d be pushed to sell it just yet as it plays beautifully I think it’s just not the sound I had in my head. Is that the reason they went on to make the lx with a different neck??
I think a stage 2 5 string maybe in order if I can find one for sale in the uk.
