So where are the "New" 2009 Rockbasses up on the Warwick Website?

Hey all, first time posting, been lurkin for a while though... Just wanted to chime in and say that i went to GC today to pick up some strings and they had 4 of the new RockBass's in stock... IMPO, it is definitely a major improvement over the older models. They had 2-4's and 2-5's all Vett's. 1 in each string configuration of $$ and then the standards..


They are Definitely COOL!!!!!

I will be picking one or two up soon (hopefully). Oh and Florin's correct. You can tell who the daddy of the Wicks are... but still, really freakin nice!!!!
 
So what kind of price tags did GC have hanging on them? And my past experience as shown me there is almost always some haggle room set in GC prices, but then again my experience with GC was 20 years ago.

If i remember correctly, $699 for the Vette and string and $899 for the the $$ fiver
 
You're right Randy. As far as GC's price tags are concerned, there's always room to haggle. Especially if you say something like......"Last time I was here some A-Hole gave me this much off of some piece of garbage."
 
Hmmm, these new models are allready in the states. . . Maybe one day we'll get them in South Africa:roll:
 
Hi, first time poster, 12-year user of Warwick.

I just had the same GC experience as many here. I went there to fiddle around on a couple basses, and picked up a 'vette $$ 4. The first thing that came to mind was "Hmm...Warwick not using ovankol anymore? Oh well" and then the lack of two switches for the pickups. I was looking at the headstock, saw the trussrod cover and said "WOW! What an improvement!"

They're seriously nice. I'd not hesitate grabbing one as a solid backup - or regular - bass.
 
OMG its shameful. I am already seeing on Ebay ... Brand New RockBass with a buy it now price of $699 - $799, I even saw one for $999. And its an older RockBass. When they say Brand New, they are meaning not used but just the way their wording it and the price suggest that its a new one. Until you see the pics. But I am sure they are goint to trick people that don't know any better into thinking they are buying the new RockBasses they have been hearing about.

I was expecting the price of the older RockBasses to go down when the new ones finally got released, but instead, prices are going up. That is crazy. Hopefully when we start to see the new (2009) RockBasses start to show up on ebay that will straighten out some of the confusing wording and prices.
 
Dreamers Randy. They aint gonna sell older model RB's for new model prices, oh they'll try it, but they won't do it. When DGB ceased being the distributer they were trying to get 900 or so for a Vamp saying one of the last new Vampyre's available, prolly knowing full well that a new distributer was already arranged.
 
Yea, I agree... but you know, as soon as the new rockbasses are easily available the tactic is going to change. They we add the word.... RARE ... lol They will become rare rockbasses and the price still won't come down ... lol
 
There are a few models of the new RB's at Musician's Friend, mostly Corvettes, and a Streamer Standard. Most are just referred to as Warwicks. The info is clearly incorrect, on the ones that have info, as they list ovangkol for the neck, while the shot of the back reveals a clearly maple neck. Prices don't seem too bad, except the Streamer, which seems way high compared to what the RB Streamer Standard cost previously.
 
Hello there, I'm new to the forum, just wanted to throw my opinion in the mix.

I just last week got a new rockbass corvette standard 5er and I gotta say... Don't down me for this but I tried a real warwick and the new rockbass(bought) was quite a bit more comfortable and fun to play. Thats my opinion from a fender guy. By the way I went to Guitar Center with every intention of buying a real warwick, maybe its just the fact that im used to fenders and the rockbass seems like a sweet sweet go between for someone whos not used to the log of a neck of a warwick. anyways, I'm converted. so bye bye fender, hello warwick!! And I talked the kid at G.C. down to $636.99 from $699.99.The sound is round and crisp, and the passive electronics on mine are more versatile than some more expensive active basses I've played. I'm glad they did away with the cheeseball headstock logo to. and I love the satin finish.

Sorry for being so long winded. ;)

Would that mean that, in that shop at that
time, the DE Wicks were older stock than
the RB's ? I mean aren't the necks spozed
to be the same if the stock is all the latest ?

RB's have the same neck profile as Warwicks.
Unless of course you're comparing say a 2009 Warwick(slim neck profile) against say a 2007 RB.In which case the Warwick neck will be slimmer.
 
Ok, so these are for sale even down here in Australia already.

I've seen them for sale in Bass Centre in Melbourne, and the build quality looks amazing compared to the older Rock basses - there really is no comparison.

I am very much interested in purchasing one now, however the only models for sale were Corvette $$'s and corvette standards.

Ultimately I'd love a 5 string streamer jazzman or $$ - Will there be new Rock basses in this configuration sometime in the near future??

What is the status on these, How come they still aren't up on the site?

The new RBs have been in SC for about 3 weeks now at GC. I ordered one last week and am awaiting arrival any day. They are beautiful-All Warwick- from electronics down to the straplocks, bridges, machines. The necks are actually 5 pieces with the 2 pieces of veneer and bolt on. I believe the woods are maple and alder nothing exotic but beautifully made and available in a black oiled finish. PUs are double Js or $$ active or passive. The great thing is that Warwick hardware parts will retrofit (if I'm correct). I was able to order a Corvette 5ver lefty fretless ($800-tax). Coincidentally, the old stock from DBGoods showed up on ebay recently and I snagged one of those Corvette lefties for $349. It's been a good week!

i remember the first time i ever played a warwick and a rockbass next to eachother. they were both corvettes and honestly except for the wood beauty and slight advantage in the sound from said wood, i like the rockbass corvette better. I thought it just played a lil better. Of course after playing with warwicks at shops for a while i now own 2 warwicks and have yet to buy a rockbass. Sometimes the first impressions are weird. As opposed to the w on headstock vs rockbass i think it looks better. My opinion is that there are a lot of people who cannot scrounge money together for warwicks like i have been able to and its not wrong for talented musicians to deserve high quality at a smaller price range. if a warwick is out of your price range and a rockbass is right there, i say go for it because a rockbass is still a spectacular instrument.

I applaud you for your candid remarks and brave opinions. And for those who are still concerned and have not yet seen, the old RB headstock is gone and replaced with the traditional icon. Change is good and will be for Warwick who is putting more of us in the driver's seat of a luxury ride. Bravo Warwick and RockBass
