guys...
are both the pickups lengths on the thumb the same?
or are they different?

It depends on if it's a 4 or 5 string.On the 4,the bridge is a long & the neck is a short.On the 5,they're both long. :wink:
They look the same,but they're done this way to cover the spread of the strings.Narrower towards the nut,wider towards the bridge. :wink:

Ok here's the story.
I posted on a local (Singapore) forums wanting to trade my barts for MECs.
This guy replied! And he said I had what he was looking for (at that time).
Ended up my barts were for 5 stringers and his MECs were for 4.
Him being a extremely nice guy (thanks Ken), lent me his pickups to try them out first, only working up a deal if everything works.
So, his MECs were 1 short 1 long. I couldn't fit the neck one in so I thought to myself, "Since the barts are out, why not try the dead MECs again?" I tried both the 98' MECs that my friend gave to me again. I panned the selector pot to the bridge expecting no sound whatsoever. BUT I WAS WRONG!
I'm finding that the barts have a more natural organic sound, but its losing in growl and output.
MECS do tend to sound a little artificial (boosted?) but growls with much more authority and sounds more aggressive.
Well, lucky me, I have both now. Doubt I'd sell the barts away.

why does the thumb 03 and the thumb 05 look so different?
i thought other then one being NT the other BO.
there isnt much of a difference.

im seeing body size difference (NT having a rounder bottom and slimmer waist) and difference in pickup angulation.
i know about the part about the horns.

BO bodies look longer and their arms look shorter because they have that extended bump where the neck meets the body for the bolts. It make the body look longer and different than the NT models.

Thumbs in 4 strings have that slanted pick up at the neck and the 5 string versions have the pickups close to the bridge. :wink:

Also, the NT versions have 26 frets whilst the BO versions have 24 frets, making the necks seem longer still... :wink:

trujo i was comparing the 5 with the 5.
the angles are slightly different.
i didnt realise the NT has 26 frets.
thats probably why the BO 24frets' body look longer.

hmm i believe due to the humidity in my country, my neck is slightly warped. but somehow its not affecting any playability. should i still get it straightened? or do i apply the 'if it aint broke, dont fix it' attitude here?

If your neck was warped (twisted) & your action is'nt rediculously high,it's a fair bet there's nothing wrong with it.If you're not getting any buzzing on any frets,your neck sounds fine to me.
What makes ya think it's warped?

looked down from the headstock and it judging from the nut and the last fret. it isnt parallel.
