=The Warwick Thumb Club=

Good to know that the routing + preamp seem original. :)
As for the price, that is aligned with what I was thinking about. Thanks gents. We sometimes see crazy prices on Reverb for these early models (and for other brands too) so it is now difficult to figure out the market value. Note that it does not seem that this kind of selling platform has brought any added-value to us other than global artificial price increase for bass gear... 😠
Hi growl,
you can always list it here in the forum before it goes out on Reverb, or local small adds. Reverb prices are higher because they charge a fee (don't know exactly how much).

Thumb time! Do I have an addiction? Perhaps...

Front to back:

* 1990 Thumb NT 5 lined fretless with LEDs - my lates acquisition
* 2001 Thumb NT 5 fretted
* 2011 Thumb BO 5 unlined fretless, Korean Pro Series
* 2006 Thumb BO 4 dirty blonde ltd
* 2004 Thumb NT 5 unlined fretless

It is also interesting to note the weight difference between these basses that are variants more or less of the same model:

* 1990 Thumb NT 5 lined fretless with LEDs: 5,3 kg
* 2001 Thumb NT 5 fretted: 4,7 kg
* 2011 Thumb BO 5 unlined fretless, Korean Pro Series: 4,4 kg
* 2006 Thumb BO 4 dirty blonde ltd: 3,3 kg
* 2004 Thumb NT 5 unlined fretless: 4,6 kg

If i remember correctly, most LTD models are actually hollowed out.
Both my 2003 and 2005 are weight relieved, I think this is the case too with your 2006.
I've never heard this. Only chambered LTD I know of is the Infinette (obviously)...and of course it's sibling, Streamette (original)...which oddly enough is on the LTD list on the "desktop" version of Warwicks site...but not on the "Mobile" site. Curious to know if/how you know, any other specific LTDs are chambered in any way?

@eyvindwa Maybe the weight difference is a simple one... The '90 has LEDs = extra batts/hardware/wiring...and the Dirty Blonde is a 4, less wood/hardware...maybe Birdseye is slightly lighter as well?

Possibly? Also, possibly, I'm wrong on all accounts 😂

Yeah, I don't think that the blonde is chambered at all, I think it just comes down to a lighter selection of woods. Swamp ash is the body wood, with a birdseye poplar top.

For the '90, it would surprise me if all of the weight difference stems from the LEDs, but some of it for sure.

The Streamerette and Infinette are semi? hollow, which is not the same as chambered! :)

For the 2006 i'm not 100% sure, but for my 2005 LTD I read multiple accounts on it being a 'chambered' body.
And I believe it, when you tap certain parts of the body it will sound different.
Warwick has done it before, even on Dolphins: Tone Chamber System-into the depths of da lolphin

The 2022 are also chambered, for what it's worth.

Thanks for the reply @Gnermo

Poor choice of words on my part for the Infinette & '01 Streamette. Semi hollow, yes. ☺️

Did not know the '05 was chambered. Very cool! And me being unaware the 2022 is chambered, shows how out of it I've been the last few years. Good to know, thanks for the info and correction.

'05 confirmed 👍

I don´t know why but also for me the special features of the edition basses are often unclear. Chambered, special nut width or neck profile, electronics, whatever - only in the videos from Warwick the features are evident enough. And even not every vid shows all the specs of the special bass.

I know it's a touchy subject 😇, @PaulS but the Flamin' Blonde is also rather inconsistent when it comes to fretboard figuring. Some have blonde streaks in the ebony, mine...pitch black.

Figured / striped ebony used to actually be considered junk and was usually thrown out. Now it's being marketed at a premium, with different names as 'massacar, tigerstripe' and all that .

Times change, as well as some peoples taste. Some love the look of multi-color boards. I love the pure black, though I'm looking forward to one day having a striped board. They're nice looking.

marketing…👍😂…good in pulling money out of people‘s pockets..

Actually, it was Taylor guitars that made it popular as the black part of the ebony tree was only in the middle, and the lumberjacks had to cut down each tree to see if it was black or not... If not, it was left... Talk about a waste..

So, marketing? Maybe? But it is kinder to the trees.. Also, companies like Gibson have been dyeing not-so-black ebony to get it "pure black".. So who is doing the marketing there :-)

Personally, I really like tigerstripe ebony, a lot nicer to look at compared to just black...

Ha no touchy at all. There are many basses out there for all of us. I have a custom Adamovic being built now. Should have by end of year, very excited. If it’s as amazing as the others I have played, I may be selling some of the Wicks.
