Live with my fretless Thumb NT 5 in England (Leeds, London). Also, there's an NS Design upright in there, but feel free to ignore those parts :D

[IMG] Loved my 2000 Thumb NT4 but the long scale made first position stretches too hard for me. So I asked my luthier to convert it to a medium scale bass by moving the nut up to the first fret. Now this is the perfect bass for me!

Warwick wanted over $5000 for a custom shop medium scale Thumb NT4. This conversion cost me under $250.

I'm surprised they offered to make you a neck through medium scale, normally this is only reserved for bolt-ons but I guess for the right price...

How does it sound compared to it's former 34" scale self? Did you change the type/gauge of strings you 're using?

yes, but its a drum cam video, crowd wasn't great (maybe 75 people if that...) so figured why not get some action from the drummer.

Hi, Just a Thumb BO5, from 1998, equipped with Delano's pickups and a GraphTech Piezo system I just installed yesterday.

(on this picture the piezo isn't yet there, and I'm still waiting new pickup screws.

Finally time to join the club, after owning mostly Corvette's for years (and a random streamer)

1998 Bolt-On Thumb, bought by the previous owner new in 98 aswell.
Ovangkol body with wenge neck and board.

He's replaced the frets a few years ago, and had the electronics resoldered. So it's been taken care of.
But also played quite a bit, there's a hole at the neck pickup where his thumb used to sit.

    It sounds exactly the same.

    I'm still using 45 - 105 D'Addario flatwounds.

Your side dots should be all over the place, but I see them correctly at 3rd and 5th fret, after the conversion. Did the luthier also move the side dots?

He colored the old dots to make them invisible. And I used stick-on dots in the right places. For now they're working fine.
