Gunther Grass'novel? Ohh that's a hard one-- the film even worse. I'll have to hurry then. I've been stalled on page four of Chapter 28 for the past couple of weeks owing to burn out, but when I've finished 32 or so, I will have finished a reasonable batch to send you, particularly since the average chapter length is a bit longer than 11-21.

I find it quite an enjoayable read, and I didn't see the movie yet. After I finish it I will, I promise!

so umm.....I bought my first Thumb last November and until a few months ago when I joined a new band it was a bedroom player.

I since have used it every time we play and have not once experience any neck dive.....I use a 2.5 inch padded Franklin strap (smooth leather) and I cant get it to dive..... even when Im trying to get it to dive.

Weird because I hear a lot of stories of neck dive, but I haven't experienced it ......anyone else have the same results as me?

I don't think it actually dives, but it wants to stay in a different position (horizontal-ish" Also, because of the short upper horn, it is placed to the right. So I guess my biggest issue with thumbs is that being a not-so-tall person (176 cm) my left hand has to stay really stretched, and it is hurting my shoulder too.
 
In the last two months, my 2000 Thumb NT4 (fretted) has been improved from its factory-stock state.

One of my bands rehearses at a studio a few blocks away from NYC's Empire State Building's radio transmitters. The Thumb was picking up lots of radio interference. That never, ever happened before, but in this studio it was unplayable. None of my other basses had the problem there.

Turned out that the paint in the control cavity wasn't conductive and the back cover was unconductive plastic! So my tech pulled out all the electronics and lined the control cavity and cover with copper tape. Problem gone!

And then the MEC 18V 3-band EQ pre-amp was as noisy as could be, hissing ridiculously. I replaced the two op-amps with lower noise ones. It's much, much quieter now, at the expense of reduced battery life. That's a trade I'm happy to make.

And the Thumb has had some other maintenance too. A few months ago I sent the bass down to Warwick in Nashville TN for some work: the neck had a bow and a slight twist that the truss rod couldn't remove. They used a heater to re-curve the neck and now it's playable again.

Love my Thumb. It's my #1 bass.

Thanks buddy! I'm actually very happy with the KPS(?) Thumb, it is light weight and nicely playable.
 
My preamp is going out in my Thumb

Any of you guys swapped out your pre for an Aguilar OBP2

I guess I shouldn’t be asking this question after the fact that I had already ordered based on a few reputable recommendations.

I'm sure I'm going to like it, but was wondering if anyone else had some experiences with them….anyone notice if it took away / added to the growl?
 
I hate 2 band preamp in Corvette GPS and what it does to my Sound when engaged - bypassing always. Im using MXR M81 pedal instead - very transparent. On the fly adjustment is not an issue, so no problem - I cut bass -6db and add trebble 2-3db - happy :D .

Just sold my Thumb NT6, Got an ok price on it.

Don't have any regrets as I found after my stage 1 I could not deal with the Thumb balance issues. Plus I'm so used to broad neck know the thumb felt cramped.

I still have my Thumb 5 fretless so still part of the club !!!

Was that a $$ bass or did it have Jazz pups?
