This was recently discussed, and the conclusion was that the SSII was the very first production model to have the modern 2 piece bridge. This despite the fact that older models... Thumb, SSI, continued to use the Schaller bridge, up until the end of '87.

As far as we can tell, the very first known SSII's (Jan of '87, if I recall correctly) had the 2 piece, while the first SSI to have the 2 piece, was the 5th Anny, that was released in April of that year (though standard SSI continued with the Schaller). Forgive me if my months are off, but I think that's the known story. For now at least ;)

I should have mentioned, the original Streamer didn't officially have the Stage I moniker until sometime after '90 I believe (Schlo could pinpoint best). It was just the Streamer/Streamer Stage II for several years. Even though in email correspondence, papa Wilfer will sometimes call the 80's Streamers....SSI. And that's exactly what I did above. Whoops o_O

All part of the "let's confuse the hell out of people" Warwick history bliss :D:cool:

My 86 that I sold. I remember at the time it was because the neck was too thin!
I wish I still had it. Thin neck and all

The tone of the instrument is undeniable

Body will be Cherry (pre 87-88ish) or Maple for post 88(ish) Anegre wasn't a body wood it was used for the stringers up the neck. Maple is a little brighter/focused than Cherry but you'd not be disappointed with either.

Hard to tell from those images as you can't zoom in. I'm assuming the bass is a '88 which is a transition period where the body wood could have been maple... if it sounds good does it matter? Buy it and if you don't like it I'll swap you for a 1990 maple bodied bass! ;)

I see some flame by the knobs. I'd say it's Maple.

I think that what I love the most about these early Streamer 1 models is the fact that you can see the Wenge neck on the front of the bass ! It creates a lovely visual contrast ! The streamer 2, the Dolphin, and the Thumb and Buzzard all hide the neck with an extra lamination at the front of the instrument. I think the streamer one model is the only model that lets the neck show through the front of the bass . Very cool !
