i've never found out officially, but I'm pretty sure its Bubinga Pomelle. The back of the bass is even more swirly! I'm guessing its not a CS, but maybe a slap of pomelle was on hand for it....I got it SH so not sure of its first few years...

Definitely Bubinga Pommele - looks like the Bubinga Pommele on my Thumb NT (the pic of mine is brighter than it actually is in person; it's actually closer to the shade of your 'Vette):
 
I have a bit of a modest set up so far:



Squier Vintage Modified fretless Jazz Bass plugged into a US made Ampeg BA115T. It sounds great so far, I love it.



Ibanez SR305DX five string bass, on the wall, with my beloved Jaco Pastorius vinyl hanging next to it. I don't play the Ibanez much at all because the pickups don't sound nice to me, are kinda noisy, and those frets just get in the way so much. It's recently been arraged so that I have a second wall mount for my jazz bass, with Jaco moved a bit closer to the right. Looks so tasteful right above the Ampeg. :D

Florin, whats a more likely scenario? My bass is a CS model, or for some reason, bubinga pomelle was used for a batch of Corvette Stds??
 
Anarchyok. Why don't you put that 2x10 cab on top of the 4x10 cab? I think it will look awesome xD

Hey mate, its actually a 1x15 inch cab, and for gigs, it normally goes on the bottom, then the 4x10, the the amp on top. But at home, i only plug into the 1x15, its my mini rig. And its easier to then just wheel the 4x10 out with the effects case, and amp ontop to the car for band reheasal.

I agree with Mark here.Your Vette is more figured than my Thumb Jono I know for a fact mine is bubinga pomelle.
 
Maybe the production line was short of regular bubinga that week & they dipped into the bubinga pomelle pile.Maybe that slab got mixed in accidentally.Whatever the case,it's a beautiful slab of wood.

I like the fact that you've got a BN 6-string and a narrow spaced Thumb NT 6.

Do you find it difficult to switch between the 2?

In fact is really cool to have both narrow spaced 6string and a BN 6 string.
When I first got my BN it was a bit scary since I was used to play my Thumb and found myself with a huge fretboard on my hands, but I easily adapted to it, now it's no deal at all, I switch between them and feel no diference.
I found the BN to be a dream to do some slapping since I used to do it on my Thumb, now with the BN it got a lot easier for me ( yup I pretty much suck at slap :oops: :oops:)

By the way Lex are you going to get yourself a pretty Thumb Bass?

I have a 6-string SS1 on order.... but I really would love a Thumb NT.
