If you go to concerts and before the show immediately walk up to the stage to see what bass is on there. (Yesterday, Tim Christensen's bass player was using a fireglo RIC 4001s with a seymour duncan neck pickup through a hiwatt top with 4x10".)

I: Well, how was the concert of *** yesterday?
GP: The guitarplayer had a P90 loaded SG, a one channel Marshall JCM800,..

After all this gear talk we get to the actual played music;)

You know you're a bassist when you walk into a music store and spend 15 minutes looking over their collection.... even though it only consists of the same 10-15 basses that were there last time.... and the time before... and the time before...

You know you're a bassist when you see the back of a warwick/rickenbacker headstock through he pub window and can get envious before you've even seen what model it is.
 
here's one from my experience:
You know you're a bass player if you go to dance lessons and spend all time standing in a corner listening to the bass line in the song everyone else is dancing to :lol:
