Warwick at youtube!!

First time I've actually been able to check out the vids, so far the downloads have been so slow they just freeze. Seth is amazing, I'd equate Seth to the bass as Steve Hackett (my absolute favorite guitar player) is to the guitar. Not only technically amazing, but plays stuff I actually enjoy listening to. Kinda the opposite of Steve Vai. Technically unbelievable, and a yawn. Some great stuff there guys. Lex, love the smooth, relaxed feel, that is one cool bass dude!

Steve Hackett played with Genesis back in the Gabriel era, when they did good stuff. He quit about the same time Pete did. His take on the guitar was that a solo should be part of the song, kinda the oposite of Eddie Van Halen. Steve Hackett is, of course, the inventor of finger tapping BTW. Listen to Every Day off Spectral Mornings, you'll know what I mean.

My favourite touch guitarists are Regi Wooten and the guy from The Fall Of Troy.

Both are really good.

Ever seen Wooten play in person? The brothers have a band in Nashville and play little clubs fom time to time and every once in a while Victor comes out to join them. I saw them by accident a couple years ago at 3rd and Linsley... I was just planning on meeting up with some friends and it turned out that they had a running gig every Wednesday there so I sat about five feet from Reggie the whole night. DAMN that guy is somethin' else... And on a Squier Strat too... :shock: ~M~
 
I have a Squire Strat! :D Pretty good with the exception of the fact that it won't stay in tune, at all!
 
Speaking of touch guitars,check out Tony Levin & what he does to a Chapman Stick.Mind blowing.
 
Yeah, I saw wooten this past december in Burlington Vermont with his band. I was 1 foot, no joke, from ethier Victor or Regi the whole show...

I seriously never have grooved better in my life. God...

As for Chapman Sticks... we have a music festival every summer at my house and this really good Berklee grad bass player brings his Chapman stick and solos on it... amazing. Its so relaxing the way he plays it. He also runs it through an effects box and splits half of it to do horn section sounds, so for Who songs with his band he can do the brass and bass. So good.

Sadly I dont have any pictures, but this guys doing a demo of his work on the chapman stick at the Boston Meusem of Art or somthing in November... I'll try to find some details and a photo...

No prob Bro! I've loved Hackett since I was about 10. Seth reminds of that style of guit playing, really inventive, but fitting with the song. And musical, not just athletic guitar, how fast you can blast up and down the fretboard. If you find you like Hackett I'd suggest the DVD 'Once Above a Time', a different version of Every Day is on it, plus a lot of that style of his music. One of my fave DVD's.

Don't have a Stick, but Tony Levin is the reason I got a S.U.B. Doesn't have the exotic wood of the Stingray (and it aint 5 string) but the meat and taters of the SUB are the same as the Stingray Levin plays (mine's active). While known for working with Peter Gabriel I'd have to say Levin stands out best (for me) on the album 'Strange Animal' by Canadian pop singer Gowan. It's a pop album with bass guitar that'll punch holes in the wall and blow out the windows.

Speaking of Musicman basses, I'd think Warwick fans would really like Musicmans. The feel is similar, different sound, but the same power and authority, no shrinking violet.

Steve's playing is really nice, although it's not really my kind of music. I really like guitars that don't go flying like a rocket through the song. My favourite guitarist is Adam Jones from TOOL. I put a link of the song called "Third Eye", which actually contains a guitar solo at 7 minutes 53 seconds. There are some similarities between Adam's playing and Steve Hackett's playing I thought..................Anyway, I thought I share some stuff too...... :wink:

I have a S.U.B and I really don't like it anymore. Im not a big humbuckers guy... or adler... or single pickup basses.

I liked it when i was big into punk and stuff but now my Warwick just dominates it.
 
I like the SUB for all the reasons you don't.. :P It is very different from the RockBass, for me that's the appeal.
