The Heads Up Thread

You also find my basses there. Actually you cannot buy them. It’s just advertisement.
That's what I thought, it is more like "we could make a bass like this for you, right now, on order", than "this bass is for sale and in stock" thing.

They make it seem like you can buy a copy of that specific bass though. Right?

"We will begin making your instrument especially for you upon receipt of your order"

Or are they just speaking in general terms of ordering a custom shop Wick? I know your's are on their shops page and promo page...but I was always curious about the custom shop site. Why would they go to the trouble of showing so many custom orders, with unique product numbers, if they're just "examples" of previous orders only?

Can someone buy a copy of BuzzTard with that product number? More importantly, could 2 exist in the same world, at the same time??

…after sales mod of a L.E. Streamer 89..?🤷🏼
Gerade bei #Kleinanzeigen gefunden. Wie findest du das?
Well, the seller is saying that he is the first owner and that he bought the bass like this new from a shop and never modded it

….given the „steep“ price expectation of the seller I would reconfirm that from Warwick (H.P. Wilfer)…the Ltd 89 came with a Bartolini humbucker afaik..🤷🏼

I'm inclined to say 3rd party mod...as that is no longer the official LTD with that single J pup...though it's got the LTD serial....so...yeah...leaning mod.

@schlobodan are we looking at a mod? Have you seen this one before?

As a recent owner of one of these limited edition 1989 with the single humbucker, I’ve seen a few of these with the additional single coil in the front position as well. I’m inclined to think that maybe Warwick made some this way and also with the single coil. Looks stock to me, if it were a mod I don’t think the person who did it would go to the trouble of angling the front pickup as similar to the Dolphin or Thumb. All of these that I’ve seen have the angled front pickup.

Over the last 20-30 years I'm not sure if I have seen this exact bass several times or if it is a few different basses! I initially thought the neck pup route wasn't perfect but it seems in keeping with the humbucker... so likely original. Also, if it isn't the exact same bass every time, they have all had matching Bartolini pups which look identical in age to each other (a later mod might have a newer Bart or even different manufacturer pup.

All in all, I'm inclined to now think these are factory correct. A look at one in person would be the give away!

Interesting. Makes sense, and yeah, the route does look clean. Of course as we know from something like the 5th anniversary Streamer, Warwick sometimes varied pup configs for a LTD run. How many different varieties of the 5th Anny are there @warwickhunt ? I think I've seen at least five... including fretless ofc

So yeah, not out of the realm of possibility they threw in a couple special ones.

*Interesting tidbit on the knobs. If you look at the '89 LTD on Warwick's website, it has a single knob in front, stacked in the back. Browsing the web, it looks like the majority of '89 LTD's, in the pics I saw, have two stack knobs. Noticed one that had a single knob up front is all. Warwick mysteries: vol 847.

Yes @Hoggles even a VERY short run like the 5th Anniversary has variation in frets/fretless and pups used, so the fact they might have added a SC to the Humbucker run isn't crazy to believe.

I've owned 3 of the '89 Ltd and afaik they all had a single knob and a stack at the back... I may have to go and dredge through old pics! LOL
