The Heads Up Thread

Maybe. Possibly. This is an interesting one. We've all probably seen this one around for a few years now.

Advert implies those Ken Smiths were the original pickups, custom ordered for Werner Kopal, when you can clearly see the original cutouts for the extreme slant of original J pups. These Smiths are not the original pickups. Whether or not the different pups were installed by Warwick later (as has possibly been the case, although still not totally confirmed on some of the early 5's with the extreme slant pups), that's the real question. Same with the fish inlays. I see the email, but as HP fully admits, he did not keep/does not have good records from that period. Do we have any other examples of fish inlays from Warwick in the '80s?

The natural skeptic in me doesn't like it when an ad doesn't state what is visually obvious... Makes me question everything else. I have serious doubts about the patch of those two original pup holes, if you zoom in on the close-up shot you'll see what I mean. Not the best craftsmanship.

…after sales mod of a L.E. Streamer 89..?🤷🏼
Gerade bei #Kleinanzeigen gefunden. Wie findest du das?

I agree 'mod'. I'm not saying the factory wouldn't have done a customer order using one of the Ltd Ed as a base model but the actual rout for the neck pup looks too large and a bit unsightly; I'd imagine Warwick would have had a jig to rout a nice tidy pup.

Those routes dont look any worse than those on my 87 JD Thumb...🤷‍♂️

This seller seems to being "economical" with the truth...
None of that Hardware looks original - certainly not the tuners and knobs. The bridge looks to be the alloy kind which is questionable for 92?
