The Heads Up Thread

Clearly, it's got some Zender sig vibes. Other than the short horn shape, I'm trying to find proof in those pics this isn't possibly, just possibly, a prototype Zender...or something...who the hell knows.

I just don't see how they would have enough wood on the horns, to make those shapes, out of an existing Warwick. You catch my drift? Were the body meets the neck, kind of looks like a Corvette shape, but still there's not enough horn in a Corvette to make those custom shapes. Or is there?

The Zender sig for reference:

Ok, this is the clearest sign that I have seen indicating a serious economic downturn in the US. I got on the waiting list at Sweetwater for the new Rickenbaker 4005V back in September, and was told it would be a 12-18 month wait for delivery and the total, including sales tax, would be just over $4600 usd. That sounded about right to me, and would give me time to save some money up. Well, about 1 month later I was contacted and told it had arrived and was ready to ship to me. That call came right in between the 2 hurricanes, and I told the Sweetwater rep I needed to pass, and to go on to the next name on the list. He offered to hold it for me, which seemed odd since usually people are near rabid to get their hands on a new Ric. Since I was facing an uncertain future, I declined his offer. Now I understand his offer - currently, Sweetwater has FOUR of these awesome beauties in stock and ready to ship! Inconceivable!!! And now, there are a good number of them for sale on Reverb for hundreds less than the price Sweetwater quoted me. As a person who has watched the Ric market for years, this is mind blowing and not a good sign for peoples financial standing. Grab one if you are so inclined:

Serious economic downturn? Huh? It's the exact opposite. The economy is doing great in the US right now.

I respectfully disagree. The current price of gold in most currencies indicates otherwise. Also, I did some research and found that at the credit union I use, which operates in multiple states, has had a significant duration increase in their retail loan book, and in spite of this, defaults are up over 200% compared to the same time last year. Many investors holding CRE bonds are in a near state of panic because the current market value of many commercial properties is below the value of the bonds issued to build/buy those properties. Many US banks are sitting on massive unrealized losses due to the FED and Treasury Dept encouraging them to invest in near zero interest paying Treasury bonds in the, not so distant, past. The current level of unrealized losses at US banks is much, much higher that it was during the GFC in 2008. As long as the banks can hold those bonds to maturity, they will be made whole. However, if a bank gets in a tight spot and needs liquidity, and is forced to sell those bonds.......they will rapidly become insolvent. That is exactly what happened to Silicon Valley Bank last year. A disruptive event, such as a calamitous US election, could be a trigger. And speaking of elections, the MSM, which is predominately left leaning is not going to throw up a bunch of red flags in an election year when the incumbent and their favored candidate is also left leaning. Let me be clear, I do not think it will matter who wins in the long run, and am total agreement with Mark Twain's famous quote "If voting made any difference, they wouldn't let us do it". If you doubt my accuracy on the current state of the US financial system, dig through the relevant charts on the FED's website. Here is a very informative, and terrifying, website to start with: https://www.usdebtclock.org
Take a good look at the debt per taxpayer box.

US economy is doing great and only getting better by many metrics. And it absolutely matters who wins the election. As has been pointed out by nearly all economists including the WSJ. It does matter. We need to keep the growth and momentum going, and we will.

Now, let's not bore the good vibe zone with 2 people disagreeing on the US state of affairs.

@kimgee One of the 1st JD 5'ers of '87....and and it's right in that transition zone, when the pups would soon be "less" severe of an angle.

We were recently chatting about this a few months ago, with some other JD 5's that either had or didn't have the severe pup angle, and either had or didn't have the Schaller bridge.

Very neat, first time I've seen number #88. Freboard replaced. Love the blonde streak on the body. Super duper cool!

Ahh yes, lovely!! I remember #51. December of '86. Also one with a blonde streak on the back. Very cool!

Safe to say it's from the same chunk of wood as #88 linked above (Jan - '87) with that blonde streak.

*time to find the 36 JD 5's between those two. Wonder how many have the blonde bits. 😂
