The Heads Up Thread

It is the bass that disappears in your hands when you play, that gets out of your way so you can concentrate on music and not technique. That bass is not usually the most expensive one either. One could argue that a Fodera, by its cost alone would be a "better" bass, but i'd sooner take a bolt-on thumb to a gig than a Monarch.

Hehe right, my current live gear is a korean Reverso, I got it for 555,- EUR! It will stay my backup bass and the main bass for the more nasty gigs! ;-) My CS basses are collector items. The Buzzard will be the first one which will regularily be on stage. I even sacrificed the most beautiful SS1 buckeye burl for this project. Because I already own enuff dust collectors.

I´m save from selling the BuzzTard btw, it wears my brand! :P

At this level, it's all just a matter of preference and taste. I'd argue a Fodera is no "better" than an F-Bass, Warwick, Spector, Elrick, etc. I had been in love for a little more than a year with a one of a kind Jerzy Drozd Soul VI that I bought about 3 years ago and thought it was the perfect instrument (for me) for a while, but realized about a year ago that I like playing my Warwicks more. I'll probably be selling that JD before too long.

As soon as I saw "JD" and "selling" in the same sentence.... my Mastercard somehow appeared in my hand....

It's nothing short of a once-in-a-lifetime, incredible bass, and I did love it for a time, but as much as I want to hold onto it for posterity and all, it just doesn't do it for me as much anymore. And I realize that it's not smart to make a rash decision with something like this, so I've been letting that feeling sit and develop for a year or so. I think I'm getting ready to let her go, and that will coincide with my own CS order :)

Those Jerzy Drozd's are beautiful. I can understand why that was your dream bass for a while.

I must admit though Wick.... I may have been thinking about another JD. As in Thumb ;)

If this bass had a real neck instead of this stupid 38.5mm straw... As much as I love the shape, comfort and tone of this bass, the neck is too thin.

But a CS version would be too pricey, and also, when I have the money for a CS, I know it'll be a double P Dolphin with faded blue poplar burl with matching headstock. So the CS reverso will havbe o be my second CS.
Damn.
Anyone know what a kidney's worth on today's market ?

Just a link to my WTB new topic.

If you find a Warwick bass which needs a second life , ( for a fair price) please tell me

Regards

Already contacted him, sorry.
But he won't ship, and guess what, Norway is not in the € zone, so i'm not sure you'll skip the VAT :-/

Primarily for North American residents... Want to give another shout out to Mark over at Warwick Depot in Texas. That's where I bought my Flamin' Blonde a few weeks ago. He has some amazing deals on NOS from 2007, 2008. The one slightly scary thing, is that mine was definitely NOS and definitely sitting for 8 years without being waxed or having the frets cleaned or FB oiled etc, for all that time. Untouched essentially. Mine is 100% ok (truss rod is smooth as butter, neck straight)....especially after lots of TLC....but want to make sure people know they would have to spend a few hours with wax, oil & steel wool. Fifty Shades of Gray on a bass essentially  And you'll have a brand new Warwick for a crazy low price. You do have to pay his Paypal fee (3%) and $70 shipping. It was $120 total for me. Still an amazing deal...but just be aware.

A few examples...

LTD Nobby for $1754 (he said he would go lower than list)

LTD Streamer LX for $1823
