The Heads Up Thread

In the end it´s their decision. But imo an endorsement only works when the gear is used for some time.

Not always. Endorsement contracts usually contain clauses prohibiting or placing conditions on selling gear/instruments obtained via an endorsement deal while under contract.

There's also a difference between simply getting artist or discounted pricing for gear, and being under contract with the company you're endorsing.

Both of the above statements by shaftbass are true.

When I get my CS (when I'm actually able to order it - they're freaking busy right now!), you can bet I'm gonna have it for quite a while!

That is stunning! Mint indeed. Love the number inlays. JAN I, nice. #2... I wonder if #1 is hanging in Warwicks HQ?

I know this has been explained before.... but do you guys know how many of these '03 LTD Buzzards were made? I know it's not on their official LTD list, as the Bleached Blonde Thumb was the '03 LTD.

Also interesting.... Hans-Peters signature has changed over the years :)

I believe 75 where made over the years from the 2003 issue - e.g. I had #38 or so from 2005 etc.

after 75 they stopped putting ltd plates on them :-)

ofc there are still the 80ies and the 90ies issues with the original neck dimensions but they where fewer I think as you don't find them very often

We should create an award for the endorser who sells his/her new CS bass in less time ... :D

Buzzard BO rusty finish. Not cheap. You could nearly get a truss rod repair for such an amount of money. See last bass on the list:

Oh man that Buzzard is great, but what about all those Human Base basses....

There are plenty of endorsers who don't sell their instruments.

Instruments are so personal, and the instrument you have built won't always hit the spot for you. I just sold my CS, but I have several warwicks and don't feel as an endorser that playing a CS vs a stock model makes so much of a difference when it comes to exposure, as long as I am promoting the brand consistently. It is a bit crazy to go through gear at a rapid pace, but we are musicians after all.

Yup. I was hunting for dirty blonde for 2-3 years just to find it doesn't actually fit in the stuff i do. Outch.

I dreamed of a Stryker for more than one year. I was a beginner at this time, playing a crappy JB copy. When a Stryker showed up I didn´t think twice and hunted it down! At home I needed two minutes to realize that I was not able to tame that beast. I resold it quickly. Hmm, now, 7 years later, another Stryker is heading for me. But this time I know I can handle! ;)

So yes, I know how it is to resell quickly. But CS basses are a league of their own. Most of the Wick players will never own such a bass. It´s the holy grail. That´s why it confuses to see such a holy grail that quickly on the market again.

Another one off here, unusual finish, wood and electronics and the best inlays! This ain't gonna be cheap....

"Warwick Custom Shop Thumb BO 5 String Biomechanical.
This ultra cool one of a kind bass was made specifically for the 2015 NAMM show and now, it can be yours!"

After owning many high-end basses, and finally a dream custom shop bass, I can tell you when it comes to Warwicks "masterbuilt" or custom ordered, they all receive the same amount of attention. My two "stock" custom shop streamers are equally as nice as my former SSII6. Thats what I love about Warwick, they hold true to quality standards and precision if they are making a bolt-on corvette or a $10,000 7 string vampyre.

As far as holy grail instruments, to me it is the bass that disappears in your hands when you play, that gets out of your way so you can concentrate on music and not technique. That bass is not usually the most expensive one either. One could argue that a Fodera, by its cost alone would be a "better" bass, but i'd sooner take a bolt-on thumb to a gig than a Monarch.

At this level, it's all just a matter of preference and taste. I'd argue a Fodera is no "better" than an F-Bass, Warwick, Spector, Elrick, etc. I had been in love for a little more than a year with a one of a kind Jerzy Drozd Soul VI that I bought about 3 years ago and thought it was the perfect instrument (for me) for a while, but realized about a year ago that I like playing my Warwicks more. I'll probably be selling that JD before too long.
