The analog board got a big update too, added a Markbass Compressore today.
Not really tested it enough yet but for now I am really happy with it!
 
Nice pedalboard, Le Marco. I thought you only had the G-major, M-80 and Compressore.
 
Nope I have both a board of stompboxes and a 19" fx rack (the g-major is not the only unit I got).
for the listener, the g-major would probably enough. For jamming though I prefer seperate effects that I can throw in/out of the mix whenever I want to.

I also think with a machine as advanced as the g-major it is harder to keep in touch with your sound. Analog stuff tends to feel more organic. A multi fx computer is very versatile though so both have their advantages.

I actually prefer an auto wah in front of the compressor. It will still rein in the peaks that the AW can get, while still allowing you to play it as intended.

Here's my current board for my latest theatre run; there is a theme.

Signal path is as follows:

Bass --> Visual Sound Visual Volume --> ProTone Pedals Flying Eye Auto Wah --> ProTone Buzzard Overdrive --> ProTone Nectar Chorus --> Amp

The foot pedal in the middle is just a page turner I'm using. I have my entire score on my iPad, so that's turning the pages for me.
 
Re-shuffled and added a Boss RT-20.

Signal chain:

  • Korg pitchblack tuner
  • EHX microPOG
  • MXR M80+ OD/EQ
  • EHX Bass Big Muff
  • MXR M82 envelope filter
  • EHX Worm in phaser mode
  • Boss RT-20 Leslie cabinet modeller with overdrive (this thing is ace!)
  • Akai Head Rush R2 delay/looper
  • Markbass Compressore

Still need a LS-2 to add a dry mix to the fuzz, and not sure where to go from here. I havent messed with pedals for years.

I made the board out of some pre cut poplar at the Home Depot. Added a 1 inch riser to the bottom for an angled board. Also added some rubber feet to the bottom for extra grip. Cost me about $22, the velcro was the most expensive.

How do you like the Compulator, Nacho? I, myself dig it a lot, it's always on, it just makes me feel a bit safer on stage :D

though lately I've been going to electric gigs with just the tuner and the compulator and to acoustic gigs with the volume pedal and compulator.
 
Laszlo, short anwer: Before I bought the Compulator, never went to a gig without my Sansamp. Since Compulator came into my bass-life, I never go to a gig without my Sansamp and my Compulator. ;)


BTW:

I´m having A LOT of fun with the LOOPER. I mean, I think it is making me going forward to a level I´ve never been before in my playing skills. I´m working on some "controled jams" and soon will record some clips for you to hear and let me know what you think.

good to hear that you dig the Compulator, Nacho! I have thought about it really hard previous to buying it, whether I actually need a compressor or not, but I haven't regretted the decision :D

looking forward to checking out some 'controlled jams' clips with your looper!
 
Just threw together this ensemble:



This august 2013 incarnation has the old and huge model "the worm" which is noisy and can't handle active instruments very well but man... oozes atmosphere.

The MXR "El Grande" bass fuzz is new and while hard to set up properly it does handle active instruments without any problem and sounds very organic and buttery. This pedal replaces my bass big muff and imho is an upgrade. The bass boost on it is crap though.

Out went the boss ODB-3 and EQ. I now use the MXR M-80 for distortion and for a second tone (more boom and clank). The torch is my fuzz although it died at the last rehearsal, terrible shorted buzz coming from it :( its heading to the doctors this week.
yep, thats a digitech EX-7 next to the wah. really cool noise maker! ATM i use the space station to do a fair imitation of a church organ swell, and the phaser which lets you control the sweepwith the pedal, which is great fun. It does mean a lot of tweaking stuff on the floor, as you cant save settings, but a few secs between songs are worth it so far. AND i got it for 150 bucks!
 
The Blowtorch seems like a serious dirt maker. I read Rex Brown used one to record the bass in the Kill Devil Hill album.
