I have a friend/fellow bassist who has one like this but the 2 basses model, It looks awesome and feels like bomb-proof. That's why I bought it.I have a lot of cases from Gator, they do good quality![]()
You are probably tensing your muscles too much. Try to grip the pick with just your thumb and first and second fingers, but relax the rest of your arm and mostly use the rotation of your wrist to move the pick. It's like everything else, it gets a lot easier with a bit of practice. I think it is important to be able to play with your fingers and with a pick, because some guitars sound better being plucked with your fingers and some sound better with a pick. Also, the effect you are trying to achieve in a tune may sound better with one over the other. The pick has more attack and creates a more percussive kind of tone. I think Rickenbackers sound better with a pick, and I have played some acoustics that sound better with a pick. I try to practice using both. I feel like a complete klutz when I try slapping. I have the slap down pretty good, but the popping feels very unnatural to me still. So much stuff to practice!Stupid question: how difficult to adapt from playing finger style? I tried with picks, but somehow my arm cramps.
Could be just the angle the photo was taken from. If the camera is not lined up just right things can look off.Looks like the bridge is misplaced on this one...
look at the first picture and how the strings pass over the pickups.
If you are going to only own one fender, I say go for a US made Stu Hamm. They can be found at a reasonable price, but you may have to look for a while.Ok, let me have ONE Fender in my collection!Duff McKagan signature. Ordered at the big T in both colours to decide which one I like more.

Fender's quality control is pretty inconsistent. That's what I like about Warwick, unless a previous owner mucked it up, it will be awesome every time. The design may not suit the player, but the quality won't be the issue.I played them both and it is as it is. Instruments are a question of mojo, feeling, inspiration, GAS... both basses sound nearly the same, the black one has a bit less treble and more bottom end. Don´t ask me why. But when I play the black one it just feels wrong. I´m a Warwick player. The black one is something to me that we in Germany call "falsche Baustelle", the wrong place to be. And the white one? Works for me! No feeling of disturbance. Henry is right, I am biased. There is already someting in my head that tells me I´m doing right. And I still prefer the white one even though the input jack quit this morning. The two basses were b-stock. I will send them back both and order a new one. In pearl white.![]()
The pearl white, definitely. It will look better on stage as well.Only one will stay. I prefer the pearl white too but all but you pointed at the black one so far.![]()
Maybe the Rick would help me play the pickI just ordered this Ric from a seller on Reverb. I have never seen one of these sell so cheap before, so.........must have more Rics! Prices have been all over the place lately - from ridiculously cheap to crazy high priced. I can't pass up a screaming bargain on a bass like this!
Be careful my friend, you know what they say - "Once you go Ric, you never go back" - I am kidding of course. I think everyone should try a Rickenbacker 4001 or 4003 just to experience the Ric tone. This one has had the pickups changed, so I am not sure what it will sound like. But, a stock Ric 4001 or 4003, especially when played with a pick, sounds absolutely awesome to my ears, and unlike any other bass I have played. With that said, their build quality and playability are not on the same level as Warwick. To be honest, I grabbed this because I have never seen a 4003 LTD Ruby Pearl Star sell for under $3k usd, and I snagged it for $2,365 usd including shipping and sales tax. I will most like fondle it for a while and then resell it for a profit. I used to sell a lot on Reverb, but a little over a year ago I fell off my motorcycle and broke the beejeezus out of my right shoulder. Up until about a month or so ago, there was no way I could pack up a guitar and take it to UPS for shipment. So, in the next few weeks, hopefully, I plan on doing some serious herd thinning and will be listing all the basses I intend to sell here as well as on Reverb. It remains to be seen if I will ship outside the US, as there are some real problems with international shipping. For example - bizarrely, the USPS varies the max limit on insurance depending on the destination country. I shipped an extraordinarily rare Wick to Hardy a few years back, and all I could insure it for was $500 usd. I was sitting on pins and needles until it arrived safely in Hardyville.Maybe the Rick would help me play the pick![]()
I didn't take any pics so far - but here we go4 hours. I can´t stand still, means that I´m through after 2 hours. No chance to play more than this. Also we still play too loud, I would be deaf after more noise. We have an excellent sound, I do not understand why my mates think that we need such a wall of loudness. No ear plugs incoming though, I don´t get along with them. In ear monitoring confuses me.
Btw: @BrusselsBass You are allowed to show more of the bass even though it´s a Fender. ;-)
