Incoming!!! (show Us Your New Stuff Before You Actually Have It)

Ohhhh that's very nice looking! Love the black headstock/hardware.
This!!! I've been searching for a 5-string Fender P bass with a black headstock for ages with no luck. The only route seems to be the custom shop. Then I saw this and instantly fell in love.

That's great! HB has been getting better and better and keeping prices low.

I’ve always been curious about a couple of those Korg Volca synths. I was planning to first get a Volca Beats, kind of a Roland TR-808 style rhythm machine, but found this Volca Drum at almost half the new price, and after a little research I decided to give it a try. The main difference is the Beats has fixed drums sounds with little options for sound changes, and the Drum is a rhythm synthesizer, that means there are no fixed drum sounds, instead you could create each sound from scratch, like you would do on classic modular synths. That sounds like fun to me.

Which year is it? Looks like 1985! 😅

@Nachobassman, what did you think of the Volca? I've been eyeing some of those myself, but I'm concerned the small size will make them difficult to use. Any thoughts?

A bit belated and was something I got to let a friend use -

An Ibanez GSR200 in Pearl White

A guitarist friend of mine asked me if he could borrow a cheap bass while I was out of town for a a couple of months since I wouldn't be around to play for him. Initially I loaned him my 05 Corvette Bubinga fretless since my less expensive basses were at my parents' place. But after several months I was concerned in case something happened to my friend and recovering the Corvette might become problematic, so when I got back I decided on the Ibanez because my percussionist friend kept a red one in his studio and it was a pretty decent bass. And I didn't want to leave my friend without a bass to play and record with his original material.

I snagged this one for 229 USD (no case) . I was surprised at the fit and finish and how well it played. With active electronics it also sounded quite good through my PJB portable amp.

It also works out better for my friend because playing fretless is a bit of a challenge for him when recording and being of slighter build than I, the heavier weigh and length of the Corvette was a bit taxing as well-

This one my bro can hang on for a while-- he did say that he would get me a case when he returns it-

I've been obsessed with electronic music lately, and especially the potential for combining it with "real" instruments. Anyhow, this thing isn't even out yet, but I preordered it anyway.

Well, I gotta say, I hate this f'ing thing. I can't begin to figure it out, and I can't even get it to MIDI sync to my DAW. Every damn thing you want to do is an unintuitive combination of buttons that no one will ever memorize.

The other weird thing is, there are a bunch of different drums in it, but apparently you can only use one per sequence. So a loop of all kicks? A loop of all snares? WTF? I must be missing something, but either way this thing is still cumbersome to use, and about as fun as a root canal.

I'm probably going to see if Sweetwater will accept a return on it. If not, it will probably get sold.

Well it does look pretty- apologies and I certainly sympathize.

What about an Alesis HR-16? I have one and managed to figure part of it out after 20 years or so-

I've got an Alesis SR-18, and I really like it. I've owned mine almost as long as you've owned yours, which is why I'm hungry for a new flavor. I've got my hopes up about that Roland, though.

Incoming for @Luc67 ! 1989 Streamer Stage 2 - what a player! Playes like butter, rocks like hell! Best thing: the electronic shielding is much better than on my own 1987 SS2 with EMGs! Even with one or two dents this bass is the hard core of Warwick!

Cautiously revising my opinion of the Grind. I figured out how to sync it to my DAW, which was the major part of my frustration. I'll be keeping it, for now anyway.

Ok, I NEEDED this one, NEEDED IT! So the voice said! Will get a fretless fret… wait, it will get a fretless board. To be one of my couch basses during winter. Can‘t play my Buzzeight there, the Buzzeight would leave no space for the family! And no one wants to have it resting on his leg. 😄

WOW!
So beautiful :)
Thanks to you Hardy for having been able to take a look at this bass and for your involvement in this transaction.
I can't wait to get my hands on this buttery neck!
