Will be a nice bass for sure! If the truss rod repair was done right then that's no biggie.
I prefer the feel of Ovangkol necks over Wenge ones - they are soooo smooth playing.

    Nice score!

    I like it like this!
Maybe with black hardware to see the distinction with quilted maple.

Well, I bought something else that doesn't need a trussrod-

    11th-century-viking-sword-medieval-weapon-1335.jpg

Mind you I had just finished writing and submitting a script about 7th century Vikings, and had consulted with Darksword Armory, among other sites, for a sword-making scene- and it was for inspiration.
One of the more expensive things bought for writing research, except the Thumb NT5 Fretless- ha! - (But don't don't you worry about Eva Karr-Bronck, the Fretless Thumb, she's already booked for a future music project--)

So this model is based on a sword found in a Viking grave in Finland, albeit 11th century, historians believe.

Not yet, but getting there - the illustrator who is finishing my first comic recently offered me a paid job to write a graphic fantasy serial.

If you wish, you can check excepts and images related to my novel here on the forum.

I have sent four scripts to an outfit called The Script Pipeline in Santa Monica, CA, one of which I also sent to a friend from Norway. That one is called Valhalla By Any Other Name. A friend of his is a documentary film maker who may be interested.

They are all of the sci-fi/horror genre. If you’re interested, I could let you have a look at the Viking one. It’s barely 48 pages - approx. that many minutes in screen time.

Always wanted a Jumbo model acoustic.
Checked dozens of online videos between Framus, Takamine and Guild guitars within the 400-600 euro price range.
The Takamine sounded flat, the Framus (several models) sounded weak. Guild it is. Nice rich tone it seems - I will find out soon.

Well after getting the FNA jazzman this week my full blown Warwick love has been reignited. I sold this bass to buy a big tube amp I thought i needed. Sold that for a profit but regretted selling it as soon as it left. This bass is probably the best bass I have ever played. Anyway reached out and just said to the bloke that I would love to be considered if he ever sold it. He replied saying he loves it aswell but geez it is heavy...and he will sell it back for what he paid!! So my 2015 Thumb BO is coming home and will never leave again.

this is a 2015. Pretty rare to get these newer ones. They are super expensive. Bubinga/ Wenge.

Lovely story! It is awesome to get an instrument you regret selling back.

That said, me having ordered a cheap Chinese Guild jumbo has sparked a bit of an emotional response in my good friend and luthier Vincent (the guy who built my insanely good jazz) as he has built a number of jumbo models in the past couple of years and can't help but feeling slightly bemused that I would be playing on any cheap Chinese guitar as a good friend of his.

I explained to him that me being primarily a bassist (because we all know damn well bass is superior to guitar!) means I am not ever likely to spend thousands of euros on ANY guitar and that I do not want to ask of him to sell me one of his majestic handbuilt beauties for absolute dump prices. He still kept saying he will come up with a good deal so I am curious what will happen in the next couple of days... Be aware that Vincent is one of my best friends so I am willing to consider spending quite some money if that helps us both.

To give you an idea what I'm talking about:

This is the Johnny Cash "Ring of Fire" model he built. It sounds very rich, warm and a bit dark.

And this one here is the Abbey Road guitar. It sounds very open and lively, sparkling even:

Lovely guitars no? Which one would be your favourite between these two?

Both fantastic looking, but without hearing them, the Cash version would be my favorite.
