Amazing instrument. Congrats.

Hope you don’t mind the question, What’s the price range for one of those?

Very cheap, considering it is all hand made! Price range 300 - 400 EUR for the variant I ordered, then there are bigger ones (moving towards the bass range) that cost a bit more, up to around 650 EUR or so.

The builder posted a video with my tagelharpa before shipping it out to me 😍

Beautiful, ethereal sound! I can't help but think I've heard one before, on an album I own somewhere. When he started singing there was a note of familiarity about it as well.

I was trying to figure out how it's played. It looks like maybe one melody string and two drones? But I noticed his index finger touching the middle string from time to time too.

It is a droning instrument, for sure. You usually would play two or three strings at a time, since the bridge is relatively flat. Typical tuning is D4–A3–D3, or variants thereof. The melody can be played on any of the strings, and you can also finger multiple strings to create different droning tones/chords, as you can see him do in the video. By angling the bow it is possible to play only the innermost or the outermost string, but it is not commonly done.

Perhaps you have heard the instrument in Wardruna? I think they are among the most well known bands using it.

No, I think, if I'm not mistaken, I've got a more "traditional" recording with that on it. I wasn't even familiar with Wardruna until a few minutes ago, when I threw on Yggdrasil at random on Spotify after reading your post. Currently on "Fehu", which features tagelharpa, or something a lot like it. This stuff is really cool!

My 2007 corvette $$ I put on layaway at my local pawn shop today. Was 1299.00 very fair asking price considering the buckle rash on the back. Rest of the bass is just fine comes with a case too. Ive never played a Warwick until today and immediately fell in love with the look, feel, and tone shaping abilities of this bass to the point I had to have it. My first one and hopefully not my last.
