I'm In The Hospital This Weekend. Prayers Appreciated...

Dear Maddrakkett,

You are in my thoughts and prayers. You are very lucky to have this problem discovered now, however your life will now grow into a new direction as a result of this. This is a good thing though. You, like my father who had successful quadruple bypass, are the beneficiaries of the advances that have been made in cardiac medicine. May you enjoy a healthier way of life from here on out and a long a happy one with your family. Warwick basses are great, but they are nothing when compared to your health and the love and support of your family. God bless and godspeed in your recovery.

Here's an update and a lot of developments for today:

The procedure to put the stent in went so well, I never felt a thing, yet I was fully awake. So my heart muscle is strong and my arteries are all clear. But this afternoon while trying to use the restroom, I had another episode and my heart slowed to almost a stop for 25 seconds!

My heart doc and I have decided to opt for a pacemaker, scheduled for tomorrow. This had me quite scared, but I've had lots of folks tell me today that I will feel better than ever when my heart keeps time. Like having a metronome in my ticker - the rhythm of life!

If all goes well, I should be out of the hospital on Wednesday.

Wow! Crazy how these things can come from out of the blue!

I'm so sorry you are going thru this... It's great you have such a good attitude about it though... That can be very powerful in healing and getting thru things like these! Hang in there bass brother!
 
The pacemaker procedure was a breeze - I actually slept through it, was even snoring, they said.

It's now been over 6 hours since having it put in and I have a nice strong pain in my left chest/shoulder area where the pacemaker went in. This is actually normal and will last a couple of days. I also still get a bit faint when I stand up, but my vitals are holding and it's probably the meds and having been off my feet since Wednesday. Right now, I'm sitting up and typing this and I feel fine - just a little tired as expected.

I should return home sometime tomorrow and will be off work for a month or two.

Hang in there buddy, and take it easy for a while while you get used to the pacemaker...

Why not take that time to learn something new on the bass? :)
 
That's great news mate,I'm relieved it's over though.Make the most of the time off work,coz before ya know it,you'll be back at the grindstone.
