I'm In The Hospital This Weekend. Prayers Appreciated...

Thursday afternoon, I started experiencing chest pains. As a precaution, my boss had my wife take me to urgent care. After an abnormal EKG, I was sent to the hospital for blood analysis. While there, I passed out and when I came to, they informed me that I turned blue and my heart had stopped/flatlined for 12 seconds! :shock: Since I was a code blue, I tell the nurses I was the Blue Light Special! :lol:

Today, the Cardiologist did a catheter check and found that a main vein in my heart has a 75-80% blockage. I will be going in tomorrow or Monday to have a stint put in to open the blockage, then I will be off work next week to recover at home.

This is a major shock and surprise (but wait till I get the hospital bill!). No one in my family has any history of heart problems and I don't drink or smoke and I'm only 43. It just happens sometimes, but I'm in good spirits and have good insurance.

Keep me in your prayers. I really want to be back on my feet in time to play in our Easter program. Health first, bass second - so that I'll be around to play my Warwicks!

Just to calm your nervs a bit... My grandfather got a stent put in a couple of years ago and everything went perfect. He was back up and on his feet within a week or so and back to his normal childish self.

So no worries, You'll be just fine :) - And as usual, ask for a prayer from me and you'll recieve one :)
 
Only a religious person can have this beautiful attitude facing death! I pray for you buddy, God bless you!

i see... thats scary man... i pray you will get out of it and live longer to see a warwick LTD 3000 or something :)

im glad you were able to post this msg and inform the community before going thru some operation.
 
You seem like a positive bloke, so keep positive :) I am sending my warm wishes for a quick recovery, and strong positive vibes from `sunny` England :!:

I really wish you the best - assuming your operation is something like an cardiologists standard task I'm sure everything will be just fine.

It's excellent that you seemed to catch this when you did, before anything unbearable happens.

Good luck with the recovery. That stint could be in more embarrassing places. :D
 
My wife works as a radiologist in a cardiac catheter lab and they're doing this stuff all the time with hugely successful results! I'm sure you'll be back on your feet again in no time

... but you'll get the prayers as well! :wink:
 
Thanks for all the prayers and support. I have a private room, so my wife brought my laptop and I can connect to the internet via bluetooth through my cell phone, so it's nice to have this community any time, but especially at times like this!

My church and family have been extremely supportive as well. It wasn't how I planned my weekend to go, but this is the first real break I've had to get off my feet and let my tired muscles get some much needed rest!

I also find that when you are away from the bass a few days, some really interesting ideas come out when you return, so I'm looking forward to what my brain has waiting to release through my fingers this time...

Thanks again all, and I'll keep you informed as best I can. Since it's Sunday today, I was told there's only one assistant to service a floor of 30 patients! No problem to me other than I still don't know if the procedure will be done this afternoon or tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to eat or drink right now and if they postpone the stent and no one tells me, I will have two days of little food or water! Guess I need to lose some weight now anyway! :lol:
