If you could only have 1 bass for the rest of your life... What would it be?

I think a CS Thumb 6 BO BN would suit me perfectly...

Although I do keep changing my mind on the woods used... I think it would be something like/similar to this...

ovangkol body with macassar ebony top
wenge neck with wenge fretboard and macassar ebony headstock veneer
blue W led and blue side dot leds
black hardware
jan 1
macassar ebony trussrod cover, knobs, pickup covers, rear electronic panel cover
mec pickups and mec 3 band eq
recessed straplocks


I think I finally have my mind set on that CS if I can ever afford it! And I think that would fit me just fine as the bass to to forever play :D
 
Mine would be:

-Thumb NT 6 string
-Black high gloss finish, matching headstock, black painted fretboard
-Blue LEDs on fretboard and the W
-Blank truss rod cover
-Everything else would be standard Thumb NT. Its perfect the way it is.
-DR high beam long necks

I think this is the next bass I'm getting. GAS!
 
I could not tell you since I have changed my tastes and Wic models frquently. It would eb a Wic for sure. 95% it would be a Thumb.

My Thumb NT is the one bass I would keep for a lifetime and could not replace! But I also would have to have my Thumb Dirty Blonde, because it is the best fretless I've ever played! I have to have both fretted and fretless.

Thankfully, I get to have the other four basses in my arsenal and I can still add more - no restrictions!
 
It sounds alot like you blokes already have your dream CS basses.
On a completely different note,how many of you guys bought a 6 string bass coz Claypool has one?I've heard this ALOT lately from people that say they thought if they gotta 6 string,it's be the only bass they could ever need,only to realise they just should've gotten a 4 string with a D tuner.
 
I like the looks and the feel of a six string bass. I'm not comfortable with 5s and I know my way around a six string. I also like to play 4 strings but my main bass that I play is a 6. I like les claypool, I own a few Primus albums and I have seen them a couple times live but I am in no way influence by him or what he does or what he plays. He is not my style and I don't feel the need in any way to play a bass that any other bassist is playing at this point. If I wanted to be like claypool I would buy a carl thompson bass ( I met carl while if live in Brooklyn, nice guy, very modest). When I was younger I looked up to pro bassists yes, but I do not idolize them anymore. I learn technique and listen to their theory but thats it.

Standard thumb 5 NT, or SSII. To be honest, If I had less money, a Corvette STD or Proline would be all that I need.
 
I'd have to go with a Thumb 5 NT, H/S pickups, 3 band Aguilar. Standard woods are fine.

That, or a Hamer Slammer P bass. :D
 
Hm. Something versatile, solid and reliable, and not too delicate.

Good question, I'll have to think about it but for now probably my Thumb BO6.

Les had a small impact on me wanting a 6 string... Although I was crazy when I ordered my bass, I knew I wanted a thumb but didn't know how many strings I wanted... At the last moment I decided I would give a 6 string bo bn a shot... And got it without ever playing one :P and loved it the second I put my hands on it...

My main reason for a 6er though is for the flexibility. I like to have the ability to play the super low notes or go high and solo a bit... Also with all the tapping I do, having the 6 comes in REALLY handy.

Same here, I like going real low sometimes and being able to jump up into the high registers for fills and runs, and the odd solo bit. Plus the tapping is fun on the high C!

And no, I hadn't even heard of Les Claypool when I got my first Ibanez 6string, years ago.

Jari Kainulainen of Stratovarius, that's who made me want a 6 :mrgreen:
 
Probably a 4 string fretless Thumb BO (with EMP strings)... very much like the one I've got, in fact!
 
my CS buzzard. thats all i need. oh and maybe an amp too.
 
My SSI...although it'd need d-tuner.....mmmmm...if its the only 1 bass then i guess i'd need it d-fretted with an epoxy resin over the neck so i can get both decent slap and fretless tones out of it.
 
If I had to choose out of what I already have, I'd have to pick my streamette. Best sounding bass I have and it has a D-tuner already...

Probably a Thumb 5 NT with same woods, except CS with something like a name inlay. Yeah, basically I already have my dream bass. No Ritter or Jerzy Drozd can top this bass. I'm happy. :D
